..the so called expert who claimed George Floyd..
'was resting comfortably' while 3 policemen asphyxiated him to death, filled me with rage, sadness and disbelief.
Can anyone on this planet agree that he was resting comfortably as the officers squeezed the life and last breath out of this man?
Is there no bottom to the the level of lies some will stoop to, to somehow justify the killing of an unarmed man pinned to the pavement with a knee to his neck???
Is there no end to this inhumanity that the rest of the world is witnessing in the 'good old USA'??
May GOD have mercy on your souls.

What does this have to do with infidelity?

Well, the defense's gaslighting of "you didn't see what you think you saw" is reminiscent of infidelity.

This kind of thing is better suited for the Off Topic section.
The general tone and topic is the kind of thing that is explicitly discouraged on this site.

This has been moved to Off Topic for now, but is a very high risk of being locked. I don't believe this discussion belongs on SI, but I'm not going to make that decision unilaterally.

..Yes, thank you. Off Topic would have been a more suitable forum for my post and I knew it would be a sensitive issue... and so it should be. The connection to infidelity is around 'trust' and 'truth' and 'betrayal' of the worst possible kind.
Don't we put our trust in expecting our police and our spouse to have our best interests in the forefront of how we are treated? Did this officer not swear to an oath of "To Serve and Protect"?
His betrayal of that oath took a man's life away from him and all the people he ever knew; his family, his friends and his workmates. He didn't just lose his life. Everyone who knew him lost his life.
So... just WHO can we trust anymore? ..when a policeman can betray that Trust that results in death and/or destruction of a life.
So very sad is the state of the world. As if Covid 19 wasn't bad enough!!!

Thanks MH and DS for this site. Sometimes a depository for my emotions at times like these.

Smy.
We put our trust into many things daily that could fail us.
Mechanical failure of a vehicle or equipment.
Trust that others obey the rules of the road.
Trust that we get the correct stuff when we order.
Trust that we can walk out our front doors safely.
Trust our own instincts.
I could go on.
There's only two guarantees in life:
Death and taxes.
I guess that's where faith comes into play. Having trust but when its betrayed having faith that its not the end of it all.

Smy, you ask if there is no bottom to where they would stoop.... the answer is the man is a lawyer... or liar for the accused, as one DA I once knew referred to that role.
The sum answer is that he only need get ONE juror to say he is NOT guilty to have earned his exorbitant fee and make his name, at the expense of humanity and justice, sadly.

I’ve been watching almost every day and I feel the defenses case is very weak and has been from the beginning.
The worst for me today was when the forensic “expert” said it could have been the carbon monoxide from the car exhaust. I’m going to tread lightly but that is absurd since it wasn’t in any autopsy finding. If it was a remote possibility, it’s still someone else’s fault the man was on the ground near the tailpipe of the squad car.

I've been watching most of the trial from day one (catering biz a little slow these days). I think the prosecution's case is solid and were I a juror I'd be convicting on all charges. That being said, the defense attorney is doing the best job he possibly can, which is his job. I don't think he's after publicity or fame as he's been consistent with his objections to the case being televised and has wanted the jury sequestered since the start.
However this case turns out, please keep in mind that George Floyd died over a misdemeanor charge, one that does not usually result in the arrest of a suspect. The police dept could have simply taken down his information and filed a criminal complaint with the DA.
Folks, there is a very good reason why dark skinned people are terrified of the police. There is a very good reason why George Floyd was terrified, from the very moment former officer Lane approached him with his gun already drawn. George Floyd was in fear for his life and had every fucking reason to be afraid, because they did, in fact, kill him.

I've spent about 2-3 hours in total watching it, and I just can't anymore. When I get in my car to go somewhere, if CNN is on, I will listen to it. Every time I see a black citizen, I think of my privilege as a white woman, and am so sad and angry for them.
I'm a pretty consistent watcher of The View; co-host, Sunny Hostin, has talked about, how, now that her son has his driver's license, she is filled with fear every time he walks out the door to go somewhere in the car. I'm glad that she has spoken so openly about this. I can't imagine living my life as a parent like that.
All that defense attorney has to do is plant one small seed of doubt in just one juror, and all hell will set loose. It concerns me deeply.

I am a criminal defense attorney. There are defendant I will not represent. Child molesters child killers - and someone who is so cold and callous that he seemed to enjoy what he was doing - for the WORLD to watch him. He has shown no remorse. I know THIS about juries: they do not like to see the victim put on trial. So hopefully justice will be served.

there is a very good reason why dark skinned people are terrified of the police
I have been stopped by (and on occasion also helped by) the police; know many other white people who have also been stopped or I been in a car with them. I, not any of those others, have ever been approached by an officer with a gun pulled, not even with a hand on the gun that I know of day or night. But I have relatives and friends of color that I worry about all the time.
By some reports, it especially seems to me, more often in cities with larger populations of color, it is sometimes the way they are routinely approached by police. I know I would be afraid to stop for them in a dark area at night. Can't imagine if I were black, to be stopped at any hour of the day (think Sandra Bland). I understand that police may be fearful also, but why does it seem they mostly only fear darker skin?
This almost seems the latest (horrific) form of lynching. No wonder to me that cops are perceived by many as racist, even if their motive is fear for themselves. So why does this "fear" only/mostly seem to overcome them when the driver or even a passenger has dark skin?
