I just saw an article that wants to change "breast feeding" to "chest feeding". As if woman haven't had to fight long and hard enough to breast feed without being harrassed.

I don't get what the big deal is. So what, is one word really gonna hurt you? Person, woman, really?
Societies change over time. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not. Wouldn't you agree showing more acceptance of others is for the better.
I'm in my 50s, so yeah, sometimes I forget and mess this new, more inclusive language up. But I at least attempt to show kindness to others. If changing out pronouns is the way to do it, so be it.
Are you sure your problem is with pronouns, or is it an aversion to those of a different sexual orientation than you?

So if your lactating to feed a baby you’re using a breast. I read some where that it is possible for a man to produce milk. If that’s true and a man makes milk to feed a baby I’d still call it breastfeeding.

I think it's entirely possible for a non-binary person who doesn't identify as a woman to be pregnant. So no, I don't think it's going "too far".

What's next? The woman is waiting for her vasectomy?
Yes. It feels strange at first, but you'd be surprised how fast you can get used to it.

Ummm...no. Physically impossible.

No. When asking a "man" about his lower abdomen pain, I'm not thinking about an ectopic pregnancy because he "identifies" as female. Don't be ridiculous.
There are significant differences in how men and women display medical emergencies (See the differences in heart attack presentations). Because YOU "feel" this way, does not suddenly make you male/female.

Personally I think the whole idea of gender fluid, non binary whatever is sheer nonsense. Men cannot get pregnant and women do not have a penis.
That being said, it’s a free country and people can live their lives how they see fit as long as it doesn’t hurt others.
What I do have a problem with is this idea of mandating what language people have to use. Why do transgenders people’s beliefs somehow trump my own? IMO it’s akin to the whole God debate. Should people be penalized for being atheists or vice versa?
I’m not suggesting that there is anything wrong with being courteous to trans people. Being forced to “believe” it is an issue.

There is a lot of language we no longer use. Many words and and phrases have developed from insensitivity towards other groups of people. Nothing is being mandated. People are just asking for some sensitivity.
Transgender beliefs are not trumping your own. As a matter of fact, it’s quite the opposite. All but 9 states in our country have bills in place to take away transgender rights.
If you keep asking people to give you the benefit of the doubt, they will eventually start to doubt your benefit.

Actually its not. Transgender folks should be free to believe what they want, as should those that choose not to. If I were to use the biological pronoun of a transgender person at my place of employment, I could be sanctioned. That's putting someone else's beliefs or feelings above my own.

serious stretch here. Wondering what kind of beliefs/religion you have where the object is NOT to make ppl feel included and respected.

You can call someone George instead of Fred because you think he looks more like a George, but then yes, you'll get sanctioned. Why does how Fred looks inside his pants give you the right to call him "her"? Is it different if Fred really looks like a Fred? Because believe me, I had no idea how many trans people there are until I became a member of that community. Fred can be bald with a handlebar mustache and an unsuspected vagina. It actually causes a lot more problems if Fred walks into a Ladies room than a Mens.

If my birth name is Johnathan, but I prefer to go by John am I trumping your beliefs because I was born Johnathan? Or do you respect that I prefer to go by John? Or do you cause confusion and controversy because you are the only person that insists I be called Johnathan?
What does it cost you to provide someone the respect and sensitivity to call someone by their preferred name and pronoun?
If you keep asking people to give you the benefit of the doubt, they will eventually start to doubt your benefit.

Just because you don't understand it, or attempt to educate yourself about it, doesn't make it nonsense.

What's wrong with putting someone else's feelings ahead of your own?
Does it hurt you to use gender inclusive language? No. Does it hurt them, if you don't? Quite possibly.
Whats wrong with choosing respect, and kindness?

Can anyone imagine the internal conflict, confusion, doubts and thoughts those that don’t fit into a mold probably go through?
The level of courage it takes to change something as fundamental as your expected gender?
If all I have to do to make things slightly easier for them is change the way I use words… I’m OK with that.
