My 93/90 yo parents got their 2nd shot 1/27. No reaction at all from Moderna. Thank goodness. Still of course wearing masks, etc. My 70+ sister got her first shot yesterday, feeling good.

I’ve started to hear how sites are allowing people to walk up because of a 10% no show here in the Bay Area and of course they don’t want the vaccine to go to waste at the end of the day.

I may look further. I’ve not seen my parents in 15 months. 😢

I had my second Moderna vaccine a week ago. I had a very strong response to it and I was in bed for a day and a half with a high fever (102.3), chills, body aches, bad headache. Basically, it was like a really bad flu. I slept most of that time--Thursday night, all day Friday, and into Friday night. Saturday I was much better but still pretty tired. Sunday I was 100% back to normal. It wasn't fun but I don't regret getting the vaccine.

My H is a frontline worker he got moderna first round a few weeks ago so far so good.I got Pfizer round one last Friday...so far so good. I admit I am happy I received mine in a hospital and not a big parking lot at the local baseball stadium 😊

I got my first Moderna shot on 1/25. Second just got scheduled for 11:15 on Wednesday. I'm so excited!

Plainsong is having an eye procedure done on Wednesday, so she's waiting on the 2nd shot.

Our son had a bad reaction to the 2nd Moderna shot. I'll wait and see. The bad reaction isn't as bad as the disease, so....

I plan not to change my behavior much - mask when indoors and away from home (including in common areas of our building), hand washing, minimize contact with non-vaccinated people.

But I do hope to get into close proximity with others whose 2nd vaccinations were some weeks in the past. It will be nice to be in the same room with friends again.

And I'll continue to get close to plainsong, even if that's risky.

ETA: I'm so excited about getting the stupid shot that I wrote this before really taking in your post, allusions. I think our son was down for the same amount of time you were.

bad reaction to the 2nd Moderna shot.

this scares me. I get my second March 12 and fly cross country the next day.

I had my first Pfizer does Monday. I never felt the needle, but just like a cortisone shot, I felt the junk going in. Tuesday, I was very tired and just felt blah. Wednesday, back to my normal self. I am scheduled to get my second on March 22.

My main hope, is that the effectiveness lasts longer than a year.

I got my first Moderna shot on Tuesday. I started feeling nauseous about 30 minutes later and stayed that way until about 3 pm on Wednesday. I was really tired Tuesday night. My arm was a little sore too.

I'm in UK and got the first vaccine 9 days ago (AstraZenica). All was fine and as I get flu shots every year, was expecting to sail through it.

Woke up at 2am shivering and feeling like I was lying on ice. Acute headache and aching bones, could feel my hip bones aching, elbows and even metatarsals in my feet! I couldn't get up the next day nor for several days after, other than to the toilet. When I looked in the mirror I was flushed and despite shivering was running a fever, shaky and weak. Think I slept for three day. It was like flu.

Took a few days but all is well now so looking forward to getting the second dose done and dusted.

My 87 year old dad and his 86 year old wife didn't have any reactions at all but a few I've talked to had similar reactions to mine, and all of mine were in the accompanying leaflet.

Glad to hear you pulled through that Cass. We're not expecting ours for another couple of months yet here in Canadaland. I'll be sure to schedule for down time afterwards. Being a senior and all...

Still better than getting the damn thing, which my London cousin did back in March and he's now a long Covid guy at 50 years of age.

Just wanted to say that my mom (76 YO) and all her friends sailed through with very little reactions, it is almost like the younger people at my hospital had the worse reaction. I had my second in early January and only had a slight reaction. But many of my younger co workers had fevers for a day.

I had second Moderna shot yesterday around 9:30. We were told that flu like symptoms may appear 12-24 hours afterwards. I started feeling achy and brain foggy around 3 pm. Is that within normal parameters?

It lasted for about 12 hours, I woke up around 2AM feeling better.

I took 500 mg Tylenol and feel better today except for a lingering headache, not uncommon for me on most days.

I get my first Pfizer vaccine this afternoon with my daughter. Since my state finally opened up vaccines to teachers and educators and she has been staying with me, I get the vaccine too.

I expect it to go well. So relieved my daughter will finally get the vaccine. More concerned for her than myself.

I have had the first phase and so has my husband. He had no reaction at all and I had about six. It’s not going to stop me from having a second one but I have a friend who had an awful reaction. I think because her blood pressure is normally low that this thing took her down by her blood pressure possibly bottomed out and she passed out. Talk to your doctor if you have high blood pressure or low blood pressure because I wonder if it had something to do with what happened to my friend. By the way, she’s fine and she would take it again. The most interesting thing that I have read and sent to all my friends is from Jon Hopkins. This virus is covered in fat so hot water with soap dissolves the fat and kills the virus. That’s why they suggest washing our hands for 20 seconds or using a very strong alcohol solution. I keep a spray bottle in my car and four masks on my dashboard. My bottle is 97 proof alcohol. I spray my hands as soon as I get in the car. I spray my masks. I don’t leave my house except once a week for groceries. My husband gets out more but also wears a mask. We live in a semi rural area and for a long time did not know one person with this virus. Now we know about 40. We are close to a resort where the tourists refused to wear masks. Local folks who had to work with them then spread it all over our community. Please don’t be selfish. Wear a mask.

2nd Moderna dose at 11:30 AM Wednesday. I was very tired a few hours later, felt very weak in the evening. I slept poorly despite feeling exhausted. Felt sort of flu-ish on Thursday, pretty much recovered on Friday, but my full energy level still hasn't come back.

If I had flight scheduled the day after the 2nd dose, I'd reschedule the flight or the dose, if I could.

Thanks FaithFull - My big brother (64) got Covid way back last March. Little was known then about long Covid as we were in the very early days of the pandemic.

He wasn't hospitalised but doctors at his city hospital phoned him every 4 hours and delivered antibiotics to his home the next day. He has two storeys so he lived upstairs and the rest of the family lived downstairs, two bathrooms fortunately. There were no interactions other than food deliveries and medication.

He said the antibiotics made all the difference and within 8-10 days he was up and about (just like flu) BUT long Covid took its toll and it wasn't until early October that he was finally free from what he described as awful fatigue and an horrendous cough, and was able to return to work. He was lucky and has no underlying health conditions.

I live very rural, about 80 miles from the city and cases here have been very low, thankfully.

It's a very nasty virus so be aware of the possible and likely reactions to the vaccine and have all the help you might need at hand. I wouldn't plan anything for the next few days or even a week or so after the vaccine - recuperate, rejuvenate and relax if you can.

Oh I will do All The Things and have the freezer stocked with goodies and soup. Retirement is a wonderful thing.

PS sorry to hear about your brother. My cousin is only 50 and he's a nurse. I think he may be back to half time but it's still difficult for him. No energy and heart/lung issues ongoing, so yeah, REALLY don't want to get this thing...

Almost 8 hours since I had my first vaccine. My arm is VERY sore but nothing else. It feels like she hit a muscle. I'm sure it will go away in a couple of days. Second vaccine scheduled for 3/22.

I had a family member dx with quite a comparatively light case of COVID back in November. Sickness lasted under 2 weeks but only really down and out, sleeping through a couple of days, and never lost sense of taste or smell. Just finally got rid of the cough and shortness of breath in the past couple of weeks and still feeling exhausted much of the time.

Vaccine supply is very tight here and spots go very quickly. I have my name on the list at several drug stores and have an appointment in about 6 weeks at a mass vaccination place over an hour away if it comes to that. Sigh. Hoping a third variety moves things along.....

I'm sitting, waiting out my half-hour after getting my first shot of Pfizer vaccine. It seems it was much easier when I went through MY pharmacy's app than the Health Department links to local distribution sites. Had it within 2 days.

I'll have to check through this thread to see what others who got this version experienced. Hoping I don't have bad side effects.

BigHurt, I got Pfiser first shot, along with my daughter. I had a sore arm and nothing else. My daughter was hit fairly hard with aching bones, fever and chills that lasted a couple of days. We are fine now. Second vaccine scheduled for March 22nd. I'll be glad when it's over.
