(((Drgn))))
Hoping for good news by tomorrow. Often when older folks aren't feeling well they don't eat or drink much, they normally don't drink enough water to begin with, which often puts them right at the edge of having kidney disease, especially if they have any additional underlying health issues like hypertension, hyperlipidemia.
Many times Kidney Failure in someone that is acutely ill, meaning really sick right now, can be reversed quickly with IV fluids and rehydration. Often times the numbers will correct themselves to their baseline within 48 hours of starting treatment.

So in other words don't panic just yet. Yes Kidney Failure sounds scary, but kidney failure is also staged at 5 levels, 5 being the worst, and needing dialysis. But there are many many many people running around living completely normal lives with stage 1-3 kidney disease.

So here's to praying it's just dehydration induced kidney failure.
Keep us updated of course!
Fingers crossed, SI MoJo sent, and prayers going out.

Thanks Tush!!!

Update and its not good.

I HATE the hospital he is at. My grandmother died there.. nurse put her IV on a table instead of hanging it, they treated my clients like crap...didnt take it seriously when dd got sick and i suspected she got into an open bottle of pills... they generally suck.

My father is still WAITING TO BE SEEN...IN THE WAITING ROOM.

Three plus hours NO fluids.

My mom has given them a piece of her mind over the phone. I worry the stress will cause another stroke.

Doc faxed blood work results and wanted my dad on an IV. WTF...

Mom and brother 1 did not tell our other brother as he was at work.

After speaking with my mom, i called my other brother who is currently on his way home now. Told him the situation and advised him to go pick up our father and take him to the other larger hospital when i had all of my kids.

I am livid and feel so helpless.

Annnnnd...while out trying to get all the grocery shit done through tears before the big storm tomorrow, wh calls me in a panic...Pearl the goat had a single baby girl. Mom and baby are in the nursery now.

So now i wait. Brother 2 said he would let me know whats going on.

Are your hospitals stretched too thin from covid?

All our local hospitals are running over 100% capacity. Wait times for the ER are 15-20 hours. It is a very scary situation.

I hope you can get good care quickly for your dad.

Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

As far as i know covid has not affected the capacity at the hospitals close by.

The one my dad is in now has always been shitty. Well as far as im concerned anyways.

Thats where wh and ds were taken via ambulance after their ATV accident. No x rays were done on wh. It wasnt until the following day at the emergency dentist that they discovered his JAW WAS BROKEN!!!

So my mom and brother one aren't happy i called brother two but brother 2 was a nervous wreck having gotten a please come straight home text from brother one with no other details.

Dad finally got his IV. Was able to eat snd they were emptying his bladder before my brother was to pick him up and DRIVE HIM TO THE LARGER HOSPITAL... rolleyes

The last call from brother two was about just waiting for the call to come get him.

So thats where we are at right now.

The waiting game.

Still no change. At the same hospital waiting for a bed at the larger hospital.

Brother says he sounds better. Has eaten and kept it down. Still on IV.

Hopefully he can be transported soon.

Thanks everyone for the positively. We really need it.

Sorry its been just crazy.

He is still at the first small hospital. In his own room. My mother has been able to be with him.

He isnt eating. Not sure if its because he can't keep it down or he hates the hospital food or a combination of both.

Nurse told my mom she could bring him food so she baked him a cake and was taking him a thermos of coffee this morning. I havent heard anything since.

Mom said my dad is anemic. His kidneys seem to be functioning but it appears he has an infection. He was supposed to be going for an ultrasound.

Once he gets to the big hospital he will be seeing a hematologist(sp?).

I just wish they could get s bed at thr other hospital so he can see thr doctors he needs to see.
