I'm going to be a grandma!!
It's still early in the pregnancy and my son and DIL are not ready to announce yet. I am so excited for them! I have already started online browsing, and have picked out a few things for them (and baby) for Christmas.
Woohoo!!!

Did you feel inadequate with your first child? I remember times when our son was crying and crying and crying, and we could do nothing to help him, and an experienced parent took him, and he quieted down immediately.
Now you're that experienced parent.
Congratulations!

Must be something in the air. My oldest niece, just announced to family only that she too is expecting. I am so excited for her.
My daughter and her live in the same town about 6 hours away from the rest of us. So my daughter is over the moon, and ready to jump in and help at any moment. It's crazy because these 2 girls have always had a special bond.
Anyway congratulations Grandma!!!!

No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

We have probably been more involved with our granddaughter than is usual, my DIL had a rough time, c-section and she has CP so her recovery was complicated by uncontrollable muscle spasms. We are fortunate that my son is a natural Mr. Mom and is, in fact, being a little possessive. He does most of the night and early morning stuff, we go when he needs to nap to prepare for work.
But today, I got her all to myself while they went to DIL's 6 week checkup. OMG! It was so much fun!
You are in for a lot of joy.

Thank you all for the congratulations and well wishes. So far son and DIL say it really hasn't sunk in. She will have her first OB appointment in a few weeks. We are all looking forward to having official confirmation and an official due date.
In the meantime, my Amazon cart is really growing

I'm so excited for you!
I didn't feel the grandparent tug until all my kids hit the teenage years and the magic went out of Christmas. I miss the exuberant anticipation, the excitement over traditions, and the unbridled joy on Christmas morning. Don't get me wrong, they're still pleased and grateful, but it's just not the same as seeing their eyes shine with wonder.
I'm still years away from being a grandparent, but the craving has kicked in!
