Music can have a real impact on your mood. If I want to be happy, I can listen to something upbeat to heal my soul. If I want to be sad, I can listen to piano. It's almost like a switch that can change your mood if you let it.

How have you used music to let things out or help you heal from the infidelity you or someone else committed in your life?

I'll go first.

1. the steady beats and rhythms in Daft Punk's RAM album help me focus.

2. The Division Bell by Pink floyd (coming back to life) helps me let out some of my grief. (It's a weird one I know)

I love music threads!

When I was in the thick of things:

A lot of Tool, A Perfect Circle, Linkin Park. Oooh and Fiona Apple. And a Scandinavian band I love called Skald. I have just recently been able to start enjoying music the x was into again and it's been nice to rediscover some of those artists.

I had several songs that I wrote out the lyrics for them and tucked them into the x's crap as I packed all his shit and got it out of my house. It was pretty cathartic.

Well, the song lyrics and the glitter I sprinkled on all his shit Both v healing for me.

I cue up the loudest most aggressive song I can think of/feel at the moment and scream sing it in my car.

Dropkick Murphys is excellent.

And the Ska station on Pandora. I don't think it is quite possible to be in a bad mood while listening to some Ska.

Pink “hurts 2B human” album came out right after dday. Needless to say it was on repeat for the first year. I had a very hard time listening to the radio (still do), I get triggered by so many songs. The Chicks new “gaslighter” album released last year. It’s one of my new faves. When i was in the early days, Wynonna rock bottom was on a lot. Kesha Rainbow, Learn to Let Go, and Hunt you down.

This weekend it was Beyoncé If I were a boy.

Music is such a big part of my life and after my D-Day it felt like it had been taken away from me! Constantly being triggered by the lyrics. For some reason I latched on to The Black Crowes album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. I played that album incessantly in my office at work. My co-workers thought I had lost my mind. Don't listen to it much anymore but it surely helped me through those early days.

Not infidelity related, but when my daughter moved back home after college, because she was doing an internship nearby and she would whine about having to wake up and go to work, I would put:

Bills, by LunchMoney Lewis:

I got bills I gotta pay

So I'm gon' work, work, work every day

I got mouths I gotta feed

So I'm gon' make sure everybody eats

I got bills

And another favorite of mine:

I Need a Dollar, by Aloe Blacc

I need a dollar, dollar a dollar is what I need

(Hey hey)

Well I need a dollar, dollar a dollar is what I need

(Hey hey)

Some great suggestions here. Music has saved me as much as it has brought me to my knees.

I second anything by Linkin Park when my mood needs to be adjusted.

Depends on the day whether I want to bang my head, dance or just chill and reflect. Sometimes it's the lyrics that grab me, sometimes just the music.

Here's a random selection from my playlists...

Three Dog Night - Celebrate

JJ Grey - Brighter Days

Foo Fighters - Times Like These, One of These Days

Parker McCollum - Pretty Heart

Miranda Lambert - Bluebird

Sigrid - Sucker Punch

Bad Co. - Seagull, Running with the Pack, Shooting Star

Imagine Dragons - Whatever it Takes

Bare Naked Ladies - Odds Are

Stephen Stills- Change Partners

Don Henley- All She Wants to Do is Dance. Taking You Home if I want to cry over what I lost.

..with 5000+ albums and 800 cassettes, CD's??? so I can be choosie what to play, depending on my mood.

With Covid stay at home orders, I've be grabbing my guitar and trying to play along...always a feel good activity.

I've got some big, kick-ass speakers and I like to crank up the volume. Scare the cats and rattle the windows loud.

Just played 'Stairway to Heaven' 20 minutes ago.

I used to have a really good ear. I could listen to FM radio and think, 'I've never heard that recording before' or 'Sounds like Kleiber and the Vienna Phil.'

I got my first hearing aids during the A, and music sounded awful through them. My current HAs are much, much better, but they over-emphasize the midrange, so if the mid-dange is the right volume, I can hardly hear violas, celli, basses, bassoons, etc. If I can hear the lows, the mids drive me up a wall.

... feeling sorry for myself ... before the lockdown, we were regulars at bluegrass shows in a small venue. We usually sat 10 feet from the back of the stage, so I could hear the bass, although at a lower level than reality. Boy, I'm looking forward to the restart of those concerts!

I used to get great satisfaction from 'Shot in the Heart'.

Great song.

Pray for You by Jaron and the Long Road to Love.

A few hilarious lines about a girl getting dumped by her BF for cheating:

I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls

I pray you’re flying high and your engine stalls

I pray all your dreams never come true

Listen to it. Great song.

That might be my favorite song of all time. Got me through a lot of dark days that one.

And more like volume up and singing the lyrics at top volume in addition to drumming on my steering wheel

And just cus the lyrics are so stinkin amazing....🤘🤘🤘

My shadow's shedding skin

I've been picking Scabs again

I'm down, digging through

My old muscles looking for a clue

I've been crawling on my belly

Clearing out what could've been

I've been wallowing in my own confused

And insecure delusions

For a piece to cross me over

Or a word to guide me in

I want to feel the changes coming down

I want to know what I've been hiding

In my shadow

My shadow

Change is coming through my shadow

My shadow's

Shedding skin

I've been picking

My scabs again

Join in my

Join in my child

My shadow's moves

Closer to meaning

I've been crawling on my belly

Clearing out what could've been

I've been wallowing in my own chaotic

Insecure delusions

I wanna feel the change consume me

Feel the outside turning in

I wanna feel the metamorphosis and

Cleansing I've endured in

My shadow

My shadow

Change is coming

Now is my time

Listen to my muscle memory

Contemplate what I've been clinging to

Forty six and two ahead of me

I choose to live and to

Grow, take and give and to

Move, learn and love and to

Cry, kill and die and to

Be paranoid and to

Lie, hate and fear and to

Do what it takes to move through

I choose to live and to

Lie, kill and give and to

Die, learn and love and to

Do what it takes to step through

See my shadow changing

Stretching up and over me

Soften this old armor

Hoping I can clear the way by

Stepping through my shadow

Coming out the other side

Step into the shadow

Forty six and two are just ahead of me
