Today is one week since my surgery.
I feel really good about 90% of the day. The other 10% is mostly fatigue. I’m sleeping when I get tired. The only pain I’m really having now is where the cast is restricting my foot movement. I get muscle spasms. So I’m taking Flexeril for that, Tylenol and meloxicam for pain and I’m good.
Tried using the knee scooter yesterday and I’m not quite ready for that. So I went back to the wheelchair.
In other news, I’m bored outta my mind 😂😂😂

I'm happy to hear things are going well and pain isn't horrible.
How long will the cast be on for?
Do you have any books you want to read to help eith the boredom?

I’ll have the cast for 6 weeks and then a cam boot for another 6. But it’s 100% non weight bearing which is very difficult to pull off at my current weight.
Books are great except I read so fast. I’d been waiting for months for the new Michael Connelly Harry Bosch book. Downloaded it on Tuesday and finished in about an hour and a half.
I did buy Journey from aAbandonment to Healing today and will start that soon.

Boredom sounds like a good problem, all things considered. I like to find a bunch of books by one author then blast through them. Like Rita Mae Brown or something kinda easy like that. Or re-read the whole Lord of the Rings— big long books that suck you in fully.
Hope you keep healing quickly!

Good to hear you are doing better.
With all that goes on in your life, try to relax and enjoy the boredom.

I know it is awful being bored, and crazymaking thinking about all the things you could be doing.
But remember just one week ago what they did to you. The fact that you can tolerate being awake, and living life is amazing in and of itself, the human body healing ability is always amazing to me.
I am happy you are doing well, and that your little Delilah is keeping you company, and entertaining you.

OK. I am now triggered to being 12 years old, broken ankle, giant cast, and scarlet fever. Itched all over. HAD TO SCRATCH MY LEG BUT THE EFFING cast interfered. Nothing on TV but soap operas and game shows and Queen for a Day. In effing quarantine so no library trips, because that's what they did with scarlet fever in 1956. Just adult books at home. Mom loved effing Faulkner!
Come to think of it, I read my first adult novel then - Hickory Stick by Virgil Scott. It had some sex in it. Still does, I guess. (I took the book when my parents broke up my house, and I don't think anything about the book has changed. Now I'm triggered by losing my childhood home!)
So don't feel sorry for yourself. Feel sorry for me. Oops ... wait a minute ... yeah, boredom really sucks. I'm glad the pain is under control. And that boredom may be a sign of good healing.

One week is one week. And soon it will be two weeks, and you'll look back at that first week and see how things have progressed.
Did you come up with a list of things you could do while, well, sort of incapacitated? Books? TV shows? Movies? Catching up with friends on phone calls or FaceTime? Working on Christmas cards?
Hope you find something do keep you entertained today.

Y’all are awesome.
Sisoon… 🤣🤣😊🤣
Tush, Delilah continues to be better for my mind and body than any medicine. She is the best thing that has happened for me in 2022 so far.
I saw the NP today and she took my splint off. I have a couple of open areas and another large blister. These aren’t where the incisions are. But those areas are where any pain that I have is coming from. I don’t have any pain inside where the surgery was.
Remember that I am used to working 2 jobs and handling the crises that pop up for us at least once a week. So sitting/lying down is massively unfamiliar. But I am working on it.
Love you all!!

I need to bring a book with me for my after physio tens and heat pack sessions. Boring as ever! And No cell phones allowed.
Today we had a new person setting up the wires and she disappeared. My machine beeped that it was done but she didn't come back, then the person to my right machine beeped, then to my left and still she didn't come out. Finally she popped back and unhooked all of us.
Amazing how long 5 minutes feels when you can't move. I feel ya!

Sending positive thoughts.
It took awhile for me to feel ok resting and relaxing. I was so programmed to not take exquisite care of myself. So I hope you can use the time to do what feels good to you!
