Not me but my cousin does and absolutely loves it. She is trying to talk us into moving there when H retires.

Congratulations on your new home!!

Congrats, but be careful... they had won the rating for the highest STD's in a community in the nation a couple years ago.

Yikes! I guess hand-sanitizer is on the menu way longer than COVID!

Don't live there but want too. I like the idea that I could ride a golf cart to the grocery store. Stay in touch after and let us know what you think. I am always saying I want to move to the villages.

LOL to the responses.

Seriously though I have case managed a lot of residents that have gone through joint surgery, and the fact the whole community is golf cart friendly was a bonus for them, it was a lot easier to get on one of those than in and out of a car when you have had a total knee replacement, so they would get to outpatient, and aqua therapy a lot sooner than average patients, and it made a huge difference in their recovery.

I live about 1.5 hours south of The Villiages. We have a friend who lives near The Villages and my parents live spitting distance from The Villiages... their address isn't "The Villages" but it might as well be.

My aunt lives there. She loved it up until COVID hit. She says a lot of the residents don't comply with the masks or social distancing. Right now she is in CA and plans to stay there until most of the population is vaccinated.

I've never lived there. I lived in a golf cart community for 25 years. 100 miles of path connected the city. You could go to Home Depot or the funeral home via golf cart. Only on the coldest days did I drive a car to the grocery as it was faster in the GC. A number of people moved to The Villages from there. It had warmer weather and more single level homes as people aged out of their McMansion - ha! I have a couple friends there & they love it.

I have several friends who live there and they just love it.

I'm going to be moving to a planned community that's 1.5 hours south of The Villages but is designed for families. And it's now golf cart permitted so I'll be taking my golf cart. It has walking trails and 2 lakes with boats we can take out, playgrounds every few blocks, soccer fields, baseball fields, splash pads, a golf course (separate but adjacent), 2 swimming pools, and my favorite part: 3 gigantic dog parks, double fenced with a gazebo with a bench so I can sit in the shade and read my book while the dogs run, plus hose for water and a kiddie swimming pool to give your dog a bath.

But the truth is, the only reason I'm leaving my house on the barrier island, where I just walk across the street to the ocean, is because I'll be living .5 mile from my grandchildren.

Anyway, I don't live terribly close to The Villages but it sounds like there are quite a few of us in the area so maybe we could plan at get together.

II never heard of the Villages till this post. I know my Dad’s Leisure World has a high rate of STDS. However, there is a new Documentary out called “Some kind of Heaven”. It is about the villages. Didn’t know if anyone heard of it.

Oh Tushnurse...shaking my head but so true...

That would actually be older adults in general need to be honest and transparent and test and.....well you get the idea.
