I swear, sometimes it feels like the quickest way to end a thread (besides Sisoon or WOES whipping out the padlocks in quick draw fashion) is for me to post on it.
Apparently whatever I've been saying lately is not conducive to continued dialogue. Honest, I'm not actively trying to be the kiss of death.
Any other certifiable thread enders out there?

I used to totally feel that way, Chili!
Then I actually took some advice from a mod and it got better after awhile.
But I still get that feeling occasionally myself.

The opposite happens to me. I'll read a topic I want to post to only to find it's locked and I missed out lol.
Speaking of thread killers there is an actual thread killer thread in fun & games. Must be a few pages down now but the point is to kill the thread by reaching the maximum posts.

I am an SI official thread killer. I have been one for about 8 years.
Sometimes my no nonsense approach and direct answers require no response.
That or I just piss people off to the point they don't want to answer.

Actually tushnurse, I honestly think that your confidence along with your intelligence and intensity just has a way of saying "Anyone ELSE got anything BETTER to say or share? Can you top THAT, Hmmm? Yeah...I didn't THINK SO..."
But in a really friendly sort of way, though.
You're a hard act to follow, as they say.
I think people just don't want to embarrass themselves by trying, sometimes.
I'm just dumb enough to not care if I look dumb posting after you, that's all...

Not to sound immodest but I've been killing threads before most of you even found SI...
The game in F & G was started years and years ago was started after I posted a thread JUST LIKE THIS one...

Lol this topic is really funny to me. I haven’t been on long enough to see the patterns on ‘thread Killers’ but I do want to add that I appreciate everyone’s responses! Some of you on here I’ve read responses from. I think for me - I don’t respond at times bc this whole infidelity process just sucks and drains my energy 😣
It’s like my brain is on some sort of pause and can no longer make sensible connections for a bit due to the trauma...

This is just excellent to find some kindred spirits.
Not to name names (Bigger and Tush)...but there are some folks who have that thing Cephastion was referencing. I see it more like they have been patient letting the plebs bounce around their cute little ideas but now it's time for the grand poobah to speak and it shall be so. Often, they manage to sum up 15 pages of shite in a few paragraphs (unless someone *cough* starts weaving a grand analogy).
Twisted - you are indeed sophisticated. And maybe a titch obscure (ok and slightly twisted) in your humor. I mean, really, look at your tagline. I wonder how many people read that here every day and wonder WTF...
jrc: I've actually never seen you kill a thread. That's hysterical a game was started in your honor. (honor?)
I guess the question is who will be the one to ultimately slay this thread?

I can't tell you how many times I've opened a thread to see what else has developed and found that my post is the last one. I've had nervous tics about it. Did I sound rude? Uninformed? Indelicate? Spacey? Or, the worst: old?
But when I get sensitive about it, I don't post again for a few days because I'm worried. Just think how many people are still out there, flailing at the skies, unsure what to do or where to go, all because I was afraid to post.
THAT might end the thread. It certainly should. :)
So, what do I win?

Sometimes it's just a case of late to the party. Everyone has had their say and left.
I agree that there are some intelligent veterans here who can say a few lines with Zen like beauty and it's a beautiful thing to read and reflect on.
Thank you everyone for your wisdom and healing.
