Anyone Else a Thread-killer?

Uh-oh...

I got a bad feeling that I teased you too much with that last post back there about being a staunch supporter for NTV's new "movement" Dragonheart.

I was only funnin'...

There's not really any shame to be had in making a typo where exotic, psychopathic, foreign Killers' names are involved.

I mean maybe the average megalomaniac sociopathic, cannibalistic-Hannibalistic, psychopath in question wouldn't appreciate it very much...

But I think you could have called that guy any number of things, and spelled his name any number of ways, and I still would have tried to find an excuse to put those random pictures up and nominate you for the NTV/Movement cheerleader award, if it would have made Tallgirl chuckle and my own heart and Candyland feel a little bit warmer for doing so.

Bwaaaa Haaaaaa! I can't help but laugh at your expense GEB. This thread is also apparently a little confessional of sorts.

We've had thread killers, those who run off new members, and now a thread non-starter.

I think all of us here are quite capable of starting threads that garner no response. (Unless it's one about thread killing apparently).

(And you are kind with your words girlfriend.)

I swear, sometimes it feels like the quickest way to end a thread (besides Sisoon or WOES whipping out the padlocks in quick draw fashion) is for me to post on it.

Apparently whatever I've been saying lately is not conducive to continued dialogue. Honest, I'm not actively trying to be the kiss of death.

Any other certifiable thread enders out there?

Yup. I didn't know this had a name and I've been here forever!

I literally started a thread about being a thread killer two years ago. Yeah, no one responded!!

Honestly Greeneyes and Chili, (oh wow when I say that out loud it sounds like I'm doing a sequel to Green eggs and Ham...)

Honestly I shied away from starting new threads for just that reason.

Once or twice when I was really really depressed and wanting support I started a thread pretty much saying that.

I can't say that there was no response because there was, but to say that the response was limited is putting it very mildly.

I've heard it said that "bad sex is better than no sex at all", and while I don't usually resort to quoting such maxims, I honestly think the principle applies to thread starting as well when you are fully expecting to get something on the end of your fishing line or dragnet.

For the first time in a good while I just started one this week over in the Reconciliation forum.

I heard from a wise "old veteran" on here that starting a thread with a title that had something to do with sex or "TMI" would always bring home the bacon and the money train where garnering responses are concerned.

I got about as close to doing that as I ever have, I think, with my recent thread in Reconciliation which is called "Fantasy SIland".

I've gotten a few responses to be fair to those who have posted on there, but I must admit I was hoping for a bigger sampling of both waywards and betrayeds making use of it as a way to indirectly share with their own spouses or the rest of us what would really tickle their buttons without necessarily incurring the threat of feeling rejected or ignored by the indirect intended, would-be recipients.

Maybe I should have started it off with three XXX's or else the thread title "Free Beer and Pizza" or do like Walloped did one time by titling his thread "Threesomes", even though it wasn't exactly about actual threesomes nitty gritty that he was wanting to go into discussion about!

Or else maybe it's just that cheesy TV series show titles for thread titles only run people off, fearing that it's a mysogynistic discussion about "Charles in Charge" or "The Jeffersons/Archie Bunker's Place" or something along those lines.

Or maybe it was just me putting that random gif picture up of Tattoo...

Come to think of it, maybe I should just replace that one of Mr. Roarke and Tattoo with one just of Peter Dinklage instead.

I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I know at least enough about what tickles other people's buttons enough to bet more heavily on some fantasy themes being MUCH more popular in some people's minds than others are.

But on a more serious note, if a cavedweller farts in a cave with no one around, does it still smell?

For those wondering how to get more action. On your posts, consider this small plant I rooted back on.page 6 or so... i knew NTV was lurking nearby, I witnessed the jaunty banter of teasing dialog. And POW...drop in farts and it's a new game. More of a How-to t/j ....

ETA, I just started watching Game of Thrones and am hooked.

Count me in, Tallgirl. I choose who I give my fucks to. Cheaters and APs, no, they are undeserving of my fucks. Do not give a fuck to those who don't deserve one. I would like to meet the person that has made an ART out of not giving a fuck and written a book about it. Fuck Yes!

(I hope there is no rule about not writing out the full word FUCK. Since DDay that part of my filter seems to have broken )

Speaking of game of thrones (GoT for the typing deficient parties of this conversation) what I think is a major attribute to the show is that no character is safe.

Literally any one of them could die or be killed (stabbed, burnt, flayed, poisoned and more for those of you interested the the potential there).

It did bring the idea of my own mortality up (to me, and likely my enemies who will all fall before me). And that reminded me of a game thread that used to be played here. I forgot in which forum, but the crux of the game was to come up with funny things for our own tombstone.

Which reminded me that I had made a decision on that topic.

And I am thinking I'd like my tombstone to read something funny like

“At last, I have transcended beyond the boundaries of my frail human existence."

Which, in my opinion, is vastly more funny that my previous to choices of:

"Vote for me."

Or

"This is a practice grave, my real grave is over there."

And, while I know that not everyone appreciates gallows humor, I'd like to point put that these past three posts are my way of demonstrating to psychmom that my ability to unintentionally t/j (which has been known to kill threads so isn't completely off topic) isn't limited to only manifestations of flatulence.

Manifestations of Flatulence, by the way would be a great name for the group we were discussing earlier! I mean who wouldn't wanna wear a tshirt that reads "MFer for life"?

Aaaaaannnnnnddddd.... as a side note, I know many of you are thinking right now that the ultimate tombstone joke would be "there be treasure buried here" but incidentally I've been taping printouts of those word above the sit down toilets in public restrooms for years. While I wouldn't wanna malign somebody's great idea, I would think that the subconscious connection between the two may not exactly help the intent.

Course, you might think its even funnier that way. Idk.
