I have noticed that the price of kind bars and the like have almost doubled in the stores here.
So I wondered if anyone has experience making gluten free (oats are fine) protein or granola bars from scratch. Chocolate or the like is a plus 🤣🤣
Protein would be great.
Cashews, almonds, peanuts etc are great.
Paying over $8 for less than a half pound of cereal bars seems a bit much to me.
Since si peeps told me how to get rid of earwigs I figure maybe someone knows how to do this :)

I just passed up buying my favorite Kind bars yesterday because I too thought the price was insane.
Good idea to make a substitute from scratch.

I've done it. It's not difficult.
King Arthur Flour (now King Arthur Baking) has a great recipe library. I would look there for a recipe.

I used to do this for my kids, years ago. But it wasn't really cost effective unless you were buying in bulk and then you had to make sure you were going to use all the ingredients before they spoiled. I never made bars, just granola and there are a ton of recipes out there. I'll try to dig up some of my old recipes...

Hello there! When factoring in the ingredients for making protein/granola bars using some of the ingredients you have listed and ones I use (oats, protein powder, nuts, seeds, a bit of maple syrup, almond flour) a 9-by-9 pan would be and if you cut them into 1.5 x 4 inch bars you would be paying about $1.43 to $1.58 per bar.
If you feel it is worth it, I have 4 or 5 good recipes I can post.

Northern, I'd LOVE some recipes! I haven't made granola since I went back to work after my separation 12 years ago!!! I'm off work for the next 2 weeks after surgery so I have time and this seems like something I can send my son off to college with

Northern
Ditto
I would love to see the recipes.
I think because we have Aldi near us and have been buying things like oats, peanuts and almonds in bulk and sometimes direct from the grower the cost might be less than buying stuff for one time.
Thanks!!!!

There are an array of neat recipes online to do this. I have experimented, but not often. It turned out great. I just need more hours in my day.
