Again I’m thankful for the thankful Thursday text I get each week from my W. I (not sure how)found Deeply Scared’s profile and story. It reminded me that while my healing is going well, I need to check on my W and give her “permission” to heal also. Not that she needs permission, but to feel deserving of letting go of some of the baggage along this journey.

It's Thursday again...it has gone by FAST this week grin !!!

I was thinking about OUR life this morning smile . We are in such a GREAT place at this point in our M as empty nesters. We just ENJOY being with each other now...and we have so much FUN together!! I have talked often about our decadent lifestyle when we were first empty nesters. It was the most FUN we had as a couple...or so I thought. It turned out to be something I am not proud of now. But as we all know...we can't go back and change anything about our past.

Thank God we can start at ANY point in our life and BEGIN AGAIN grin !! My FIRST thing to be THANKFUL for this Thursday smile .

I am also very THANKFUL to have laughter back in our M laugh . We have these corny private jokes that will make us burst out in guffaws. I truly never thought I would have those back...yet here we are...guffawing all over the place laugh !!

I can HONESTLY say that NOW is by far the MOST and BEST FUN we've ever had grin !! I am so THANKFUL to be able to share all of this with the LOVE of my life...my H grin !!! THANK YOU GOD for showing us what REAL FUN actually is!!!

guffawing

What in the Cajun hell is guffawing? laugh

I’m also thankful for my sense of humor back in our M. Today my W went looking for a certain type of sausage for a dish for a Christmas party. She went to 4 stores looking for sausage. I had plenty of jokes, use your imagination 🤷‍♂️ But we have inside jokes that we just look at each other and crack up, without a word. It’s great to have our sense of humor back.

I love the stories of humor regained.❤️

I’ve realized I’m at a place a year and a half since finding out where I’m thinking through everything again, but from a more analytical, less emotive/frantic state than a year ago. It’s hard, and it’s a mix of good and bad, but I’m grateful for my work situation during the worst of Covid last year. I am a teacher, and it was incredibly stressful to go virtual in the high poverty, high need district in which I teach.

But this year, teaching 150 poverty-stricken, super needy kids a day face-to-face, I realize that I would have broken down last year if I was facing the newness and devastation of everything (plus the intense grief of losing someone close to us) and had to be in the classroom doing in-person interaction with my students. Call it fate or providence or luck of the draw, but teaching virtually gave me a tiny bit of space to completely lose it some days and still do my job. I’m sorry my students have had to go through Covid, and I would change it if I could (MANY of them lost parents/caretakers), but I’m grateful for those times that I was able to curl up in a ball, cry, and still make it to my next Google meet. It’s a selfish gratitude, but I’m grateful nonetheless.

Husband had six month affair with co-worker. Found out 7/2020. Married 20 years at that point; two teenaged kids. Reconciling.

What in the Cajun hell is guffawing?

I just guffawed when I saw what you wrote Coozann laugh !!! We Cajuns like to color our language a bit...that's how we went from being "Acadians" to "Cajuns" grin .

She went to 4 stores looking for sausage.

There you go...making me guffaw again laugh !!! She should have just gotten boudin...it is a delicious dish all on its own smile .

Grieving...what an admirable career you have smile . I can FEEL it in your words how much you care for your students...what a BLESSING you are to them!

I don't believe it is a selfish gratitude at all. You were able to do what YOU needed to do...and still be able to help your students...what an AWESOME person you are grin !!!

I have a very special friend who is a teacher down here...and it has been so ROUGH for her students too. Like yours...some of these students lost loved ones from Covid last year...and then had the whammy of losing their homes from Ida this year crying . Their schools were destroyed as well...but thankfully my friend and her students are able to share schools with other students. The hours are CRAZY...and it is weird to see buses bringing kids home at 6pm...but at least they can still be learning smile .

I can't even begin to say how GRATEFUL I am for living in this country though smile . People from ALL OVER America are making sure that these precious children will have "Santa" come to them...no matter where they are. It is such a heartwarming gesture...and I can see it is happening in the recent tornado ravaged areas right now as well.

I apologize for writing so late...but I was living my Thankful Thursday today!!

We are traveling to visit with family for Christmas...and I am so THANKFUL that we still have our family to go visit. Covid and Ida really wreaked havoc on us this past year...but Thank God for monoclonal antibody treatments that kept all of our loved ones out of the hospital! Some of our family are still homeless from Ida...but Thank God for campers to keep them with roofs over their heads!

I wish all of you WONDERFUL people on here a very MERRY Christmas!!!

Want2behappy, I’m thankful for your kind words from last week. They meant a lot.

My kids built a giant gingerbread house today, and I’m grateful for their joy and presence. We’ll be empty nesters before too long, and so these days feel precious to me, and I’m thankful.

DANG...this week passed by FAST!!!

I am so THANKFUL for the wonderful Christmas we had...even though it was a bit different from others. We traveled to the GREAT state of Texas...just ask ANY Texan if you don't believe me laugh ...and enjoyed a wonderful day with a house full of strangers!!! Our family we went to visit in Texas brought us to where THEY would celebrate Christmas in the past since they had no family near them smile . These NICE people welcomed us into their home and continued with their traditions...which were new to us...and it was so AWESOME to FEEL the LOVE from everyone around us grin !!! No talk about Ida...or Covid...just...well...FAMILY smile .

THIS week though...we get to ring in the New Year with our children and grandchildren...maybe laugh . It is sugar cane harvesting time in our area...and it is wreaking havoc on our sinuses!! No matter what though...we WILL be together...even if it is only with Facetime smile .

I LOVE being able to write in this thread about things I am THANKFUL for grin !!

There really are so MANY things to be thankful for...but I will keep it to one...for now smile . TODAY I am thankful for having a husband who APPRECIATES me smile . It's funny...I never realized before Dday how that was sorely missing from his attitude toward me. I can see it in his words and actions toward me now...and that is a pretty good feeling grin .

Not sure how I missed last week, life is a blur at the moment. I’m also thankful for this thread, it challenges me to be thankful every week.

I’m thankful for the healing and growth over the past year. My MIL took her life a year ago today. It was at a time I was struggling to heal and my W was struggling to help me.

Her tragic death reversed the rolls immediately I was now trying to help my W grieve and makes sense of something that doesn’t make sense. I had to put my healing on hold to help her.

It wasn’t long that W recognized all the trauma I had been dealing with, all the questions, the grief, the whys. This is when my W started to get it, and we worked on the healing together and learned to deal with the triggers in a healthy way.

I’m thankful for you Coozan, you have been very helpful to us navigating the rough waters.

I don't *need* to lose anything. My resolution is to get under 197 to be under the average weight of an American male for the first time in my adult life. I'm a beefier dude but it's a realistic goal as I figure (170 lb lean body mass estimate).

28 lbs from new years, 23 lbs from here. I was 255 in 2019. Minimum was 210 before thanksgiving in 2021.
