Right at 9 years, to be exact. Technically, 9 years on Tuesday, but who's counting? 🤷♂️
Not sure why, but this year, I am getting some of those "memories" back. The last couple, I haven't thought too much at all about it. This year just hits a little different for some reason.
Anyway, it's good to see that many of the old timers are still hanging around, still helping out the new folks, and still providing sage wisdom. Even you, Unhinged.
Which reminds me, the RiverChickens are in town over Labor Day Weekend. Maybe this year, you'll want to watch the Northsiders with me in June. Probably going to at least two of the three. I'm also headed to the Avs-Sens game next week. Finally get to watch some good hockey.
Anyway, it's been a while. Some stuff still sucks. Lots of stuff is pretty good. All in all, it's just a part of the story that's in the rear view now. Funny thing about that rear view mirror. They make it small so you spend most of your time looking down the road in front of you.

Holy shields, Batman, it's the dang Cubs fan!
Not sure how sage my wisdom is, but I try.
So, what's up with this year being a bit rough?

Thirty seven days, Oldwounds! The O's are putting together a pretty nice reload this off-season. Going to be interesting to watch the AL East.
So, what's up with this year being a bit rough?
Excellent question, Unhinged. Might be stress. Might be just being an old man and memories dripping back in. Might be Nolen Arenado. Who knows why? It's not anything that is exceptionally painful, just hitting a little different than it had the last couple of years.
Regardless, we're onward and upward. Using that windshield for its purpose.

Oh, yeah. Nolan Arenado. Big trigger there. One of the greatest 3rd basemans on a shitty team.
Well, something brought you back here. Maybe the high emogie per word count from W2BHA solved it.
Could be that it's just another antiversary and that's often enough a trigger all by itself. You know, that time of year. Those memories fade but they never vanish.

W2BHA, gotta say, I've missed the emojies. Seriously, I am contractually obligated to say it.
sisoon, good to see your check-in. I'm pretty sure I'd have to be dead to not be ready for baseball. And even then, my estate plan calls for everyone in attendance at my memorial service to get tickets to a game on me.
Unhinged, yeah, it really is triggering to watch Arenado play on crappy teams. Had to watch him for years at Coors. Now he's doing it again in The Lou. Maybe we can both get lucky and he'll accept a deal to the Angels.
Dorothy, SheHawk, good to see both of you again as well. We are working towards that happy ending, for sure.

I will in be in B-more for Opening Day again — I do hope the Birds can keep it interesting in the AL East.
Me and the Mrs. are also doing a very slow 30-stadium tour run, 3-4 new parks per year.
Baseball seems (or seams) to be adding to the healing process!

Good to see you again, hikingout! At one point three were out & spread all over the country (one in North Carolina, one in Alaska and one local). Two of the three have boomeranged back to the house and everyone is back in town. This past Christmas was the first with everyone around for 3 years.
Nice that you and the Mrs. can share the 30-stadium tour, Oldwounds. That's my 1st summer of retirement plan. All 30 stadiums. I've been traveling with my oldest the last couple of years to. We've been to Atlanta (the Battery is a beautiful district around that ballpark) and Seattle. Not sure what this year will bring, but I'd love to take a trip back to Chicago with the family to watch a game at Wrigley with them all. I've put in for a suite when the Bananas are in Denver this summer. We'll see what I can get done with that.
