I did google it.

From CNN: Meat Loaf, the larger-than-life singer whose bombastic rock opera "Bat Out of Hell" is one of the best-selling albums of all time, has died at age 74, according to a statement on his verified Facebook page.

"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side," the statement read. "Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours." Meat Loaf's agent confirmed his death to CNN. No cause of death was shared.

From NBC: Meat Loaf, the singer and actor whose debut album "Bat Out of Hell" in 1977 became one of the best-selling of all time, has died at the age of 74.

"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side," a post published on the star's official Facebook page early Friday said. The cause of death was unclear.

The NY Times is also not reporting a cause of death. Those three sources would be considered major news sites.

On the other hand, TMZ's title says "Meat Loaf dead at 74 from COVID" but their actual article only says he canceled a dinner because he was ill. From the article - The singer's manager, Michael Greene, confirmed Meat Loaf died Thursday night. Sources with knowledge tell TMZ ... he was supposed to attend a business dinner earlier this week for a show he's working on -- "I'd Do Anything for Love" -- but the dinner was canceled because he became seriously ill with COVID. Sources tell us that his condition quickly became critical." Some other publications are referencing what TMZ said.

But again, nothing official yet.

One of his daughters is saying many of their family members have been very ill with Covid. She added ..'thank goodness they were vaccinated.' I believe the stories that he passed from Covid but possibly, due to his stance and hostility towards mandates ..they would rather not openly talk about it. He was a great talent, one of my favorites and he will be missed.

My daughter was sick and tested positive week before last. I felt fine. Then a week ago today I had symptoms so I got an appointment with the state dept. of health to be tested. went through drive-through testing site on Tuesday morning, early. Was told there is a backlog on reporting results due to a tremendous amount of people being tested -- and MLK holiday - so I didn't get a text until Thursday evening, saying I tested negative. Another friend had the same results except she was much sicker than I was. Her husband thought both of our test results were incorrect.

So today I get a text from the county health department saying I need to go online and schedule another appointment as there 'may have been some reporting errors on some tests.' Gee thanks. It's a good thing I really didn't trust their results and continued to stay away from others. I will go to my own doctor for the test, not the county health department. I suppose, just like other businesses, they are having to hire non-qualified or under qualified employees due to shortage of staffing. I feel fine now since it's over a week since I started having symptoms.

Middle Kid has it. Came down with symptoms on Saturday and tested positive. He is single and lives 1500 miles away so that's a little concerning to his mother. He's off work, 20 something grade school teacher, till Friday but so far is doing fine.

Testing seems to be worse than ever with this spike. Whether that's omnicron not matching well enough, staff/at home mistakes in procedures, or just poor quality testing kits is the question. Wife's had a few families in her classroom test negative and from symptoms sure seemed like sars-cov2.

Meatloaf has had health issues for quite some time, including some serious cardiac issues. I don’t know if Covid had anything to do with his passing, but what is clear IMHO is that he is definitely in the group that was at risk had he caught the virus.

My family of four have just finished a +2 week covid period, with the first getting diagnosed, then me 5 days later and then the other 2 a week later. Wife and I are both 2x vaccinated and booster, my sons (both early 20s) both have 2 vaccinations but were still waiting for the booster. It was noticeable how the symptoms were milder for me and my wife compared to sons. However none beyond a bad flu.
It’s now a week since, and the after-effects is that we are all so tired. I’m hoping it improves, but we all 4 sleep 12 hours a day and still feel sleepy all day.

Sending hugs and fist bumps to everyone who has been sick. This is awful!!!

I cant say I'm not concerned that i may have been exposed by that woman at the pharmacy. Makes me want to stay home all the time now.

I was supposed to go deal with some house issues and sign papers but asked if we could do this stuff via email. Luckily i can.

I dont even know if i can be tested right now. Lots of appointments for vaccine shots but i have heard many complain they cant get a test done.

The tests i have here at home are for the kids. Only one kid right now has any symptoms. Big D has a sneezing fit now and then. Not congested, no fever, no chills, no loss of taste or smell. Just every once in a while he sneezes a few times.

Instructions say we cant test unless they have 2 or more symptoms.

If you test too early the rapid tests won't pick it up even if you have covid. They have lower sensitivity.

If you are testing early swab your throat before your nose, it makes it more likely to pick it up.

And before someone says oh then mouthwash might work to fight this, they also say don't test within 30 min of eating or drinking because it would temporarily reduce free virus in your throat. It doesn't mean that eating makes you less sick.

Did your kids each get 2 rapid tests, Dragn? Supposedly they'll get 2 a week each from the schools. You won't be able to get a test for yourself unless you either pay for it or you're in one of the priority groups, as far as I know.

I got a pack of 5 tests from work and I was told they are only for me and not to use them unless I'm symptomatic because who knows when staff will be given any more.

The numbers in schools right now are terrifying just looking at absenteeism. I have no idea how people can think this wave is receding. I was given a message that says expect bus route cancellations because drivers are expected to be out sick with no replacements for the next 2-3 weeks. Over 10% of schools have more than 30% absenteeism (which doesn't count kids like mine who went remote) and the scarier part is that not all the schools are listed. The one I work at wasn't even on the list that is supposed to include all the schools and neither is the school my son goes to. The list wasn't just for schools over the threshold.

Yes. Each child brought home one package containing two tests when they returned to in person learning on the 17th. No further tests have been sent home. We also still have the 5 test kits provided before Christmas.

They have been very specific about when to use the test and none of the kids have met that yet.

If i want to get tested i have to pay for it. I do not meet the requirements for funded testing. That makes me a bit upset. How many people are gong to go pay for a test if they have the sniffles?

And then the people who qualify for paid testing are given priority over everyone else so just getting an appointment can take weeks. By then you've already isolated the 5 days.

Our school board sent out information about notifying parents and students of possible closures and moving to remote learning if a given school is without the staff. I dont recall where it is that all the school absentee numbers are supposed to be listed. Ill go google it.

I am very lucky. I have stockpiled 4 rapid tests and have 2 send away pcr tests that I am hanging on to in case I need it before I fly out on vacation. But the local teaching hospital has LOADS of availability for testing. We went last week after an exposure. We were tested at 9AM and had results by 10 PM. Many kudos to those lab techs who must be working around the clock.

There was a study out of GB recently that suggests that the vast majority of people infected with Omicron had previous covid infections. That is the case with the people I know personally who had omicron. Any opinions? I think it was a very limited study but interesting.

Luckily no one in my family has been ill. Nothing that would suggest covid and not according to the testing requirements now.

I know a lab tech. Shes posted a few times how many hours they work and that its been non stop doing all these tests.

Every news link I've read said Meatloaf was 'recovering from Covid' so no doubt his existing health issues caused his death because he refused to be vaccinated. Such a shame, such a loss.

Sad for sure. It is curious, would he have passed given his current health issues IF he hadn't caught covid.

I saw someone post a photo of Bill Saget and Betty white with the caption "Too soon???"

Bill is asking Betty what she wants for dinner and she says Meatloaf.

Ya a bit to soon, but i can see Betty saying that smile

I got the sad news today that yet another friend is losing her Dad, in Ontario. Not due to Covid directly - but from stage four cancer. He had been unable to see a doctor or schedule tests for MONTHS and now it's too late. No chemo, no radiation, she said all they can do is to try to keep him comfortable. My other friend there was only able to get phone appointments with his doctor since last May - and was diagnosed with stage four cancer after he FINALLY got tests done in October.

Both of these people are fully vaccinated so at least they got that done. I feel so bad for their families.

Im sorry to hear about that Jeaniegirl

I was wondering if my dads diagnosis would have happened sooner but i doubt it now.

His doctor was always available and checked in on his patients and my dad waited until he was feeling awful before even talking to the doctor.

I listened to a news interview and they were talking about when elective procedures would be back on schedule. The perosn beibg asked coukdnt say 100%, its not up to that person but the doctors and hospitals and the urgency of the specific procedure etc. The one doing the interviewing kept asking changing it up just a bit each time. Same damn question asked in 200 ways is still the same fucking answer.. grrrr

Good thing I don't have to deal with the public because id go nuts
