When I log on and try to navigate the site I am finding myself unable to get past pop-op ads that cover the entire page with no way to exit.

Thank goodness for the old site, because if I were new here and had this experience, I would’ve feeling pretty helpless and hopeless.

I could not even post to "Thankful Thursday." I’m not sure how I was able to get this far, because I have had no success trying to read or respond to posts today. I could not even access my own private messages because of pop-ups.

Today I’m thankful I’m not in desperate need of help, but I do wish it was not so difficult to try to lend support to others.

This site is far inferior to navigate and read on my iPhone as well. Long pages of 2-4 word paragraphs is cumbersome. I’ve tried to access the old format, but can’t seem to consistently do so without coming here first. And that’s not working ...

I can't speak to the popups (I have a blocker), but if you go to "skins" on your profile page, there's a slider bar that allows you to reset your font size. Will that solve the 2-4 word paragraph issue?

A while ago, when we first migrated, I had to set my phone to "desktop site" to read pages coherently without formatting issues. I don't know if that's still a thing. I assumed not, because I had to do it every time I logged in, and now the formatting looks fine without that step.

I had an ad pop up about exterminating rats, when I was looking at a very ironic post. I personally think it’s great that the SI gods have sent me ads on exterminators.

But prolly the last thing I need is access to rat poison….. 😂👀

SI does not do anything with popup ads. We have header and footer banners at the top and bottom of the pages and two inline ads that appear on the first post of every topic. These ads should not be doing anything but displaying in the fixed spot where they are designed to appear.

If you can send a screen shot of one of the popup ads you are seeing I will report it to our ad contact for resolution.

Ahhhhh...that makes sense . I haven't seen any pop-up ads...another AWESOME reason for upgrading to Platinum !!

Help. Just started getting pop-ups today. They show up on the bottom left hand corner of my tablet and cover a lot of what I'm reading. I close them out and a new one is back within a few seconds. It's like whack a mole. Not sure how this could have just started out of nowhere.

Actually it didn't start out of nowhere. I was trying a new ad unit out to see how it performed. I was unaware they would come back after a few seconds. I am in the process of removing them now.

I have been running tests and I have not seen an ad reappear after closing. I've tried this on a PC and an iPhone and haven't seen this in Chrome, Safari or Edge.

Is anyone else seeing ads reappear after closing them?

I'm still getting them on my desktop PC (Chrome browser) and on my tablet (MS Edge).

I had a similar thing a couple of months ago when accessing the site on my mobile phone (UK term for cellphones). I kept getting a pop-up ad for Korean Novels, asking me to approve/accept cookies, and no way to close the box or reject it. After around a week, the pop-up had changed to have the same wording and cookie options, but pretending to be Surviving Infidelity. I never clicked on any of the cookie options, and when I went to other websites afterwards, the pop-ups never appeared. After around two weeks, the pop-ups stopped appearing. Strange.

Ok this pop up is a pain.

Not to be a whinner but ive had a hard time believing this is a more updated site from the old one given what now appears on my screen. I keep meaning to post screen shots from the legacy site and ask specific questions because its actually gotten a lot more difficult to navigate from my phone.

Every page i open i get a pop up. Every page. And popping up right where my keyboard comes up. The X is so small and off to the left its beyond easy to miss and hit the stink'n ad.

Edited to add pop up changed briefly to a bottom banner pop up and now none.
