An electrician was here on Friday and Monday. He worked near me on Friday but in the basement on Monday. I masked when I paid him close up, we are all fully vaxxed. He tested positive today after waking up with cold symptoms.
How long do I stay away from people assuming I have no symptoms?

5 days is currently recommended if you have no symptoms.

Fully vacc'd and boosted, with zero symptoms is 5 days to quarantine.
If you do show symptoms though then it's 5 days from when it starts, or when you stop running fevers whichever comes last.
I just had it, and it was like a bad cold or a minor flu.
I am immunocompromised so I did get monoclonal antibodies yesterday, which was very simple. I feel much better today. Still snotting some but the sinus pressure is gone, the cough that was starting is gone, and the fatigue is much better.
So if you start with symptoms call your Dr right away.
This Omicron is HIGHLY contagious. Near as I can guess I got it from the lady at Dollar General, I'm guessing she had it as the last time I was there she coughed really nastily on my way out the door, I went straight to my car, and bathed in sanitizer, and had a mask on. Now my spouse has it, but he says he just feels like he has a cold or a like his allergies are acting up badly.
I hope you don't get it, and if you do that it is mild.

Day 6, negative. But I've a scratchy throat, runny nose. Normal aches and pains.
I'll be retested on Tuesday and stay away from the baby.

Please stay away from the baby.
Many people including myself and my spouse start with a sore throat and then it progresses. Headache is the second most common symptom. I'm guessing its because of all the sinus pressure that this thing causes.
I didn't have too bad a headache but also was pretreatment with tons of water and supplements and tylenol. Staying hydrated like really hydrated is key to it not making you feel absolutely awful.
Mucinex for congestion. Acetaminophen for fever and body aches. Warm liquids with lemon and honey for cough along with robitussin.
Good luck.

Thanks, Tush, I will. I'm staying away from everyone just in case.
Do you think a negative test on Tues will be definitive?
Water, zinc, echinacea, C, D. I almost always have a headache so that's hard to judge. On the other hand, I have several choices of drugs if the headache gets worse.
The electrician who may have exposed me is okay, he's older too and large but he got mild symptoms.

@ Drgn - No lots of people don't get any fever with this Omicron.
@ Lionne - I don't know. I had symptoms for 3 days, the first test I did on day 2.5 was negative, but progressively got worse, and when the ones I ordered arrived on day 6 it was positive almost immediately. Same w/ my spouse, might be the tests we had, or just took that long to build up a load to show.
He tested on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. He was finally positive on Saturday. He felt like crap starting on Tuesday, and stayed home starting Friday.

We had similar issues to tush with testing.
WH and I were both exposed on Xmas Saturday (both fully vaxxed/boosted). On Tuesday, I was symptomatic (slight sore throat, slight sinus - like a cold) and late afternoon (like 3-4pm) did a PCR test at a local test site that ended up being negative. About 15 hrs later, I woke up feeling hit by a bus (sinus plus AWFUL head/body aches & fatigue), so did at home test that showed positive in <2 min. WH and I had already booked PCR tests for late that Wed, and when we (finally) got results, they were both positive. I think we just didn't have enough "load" to test positive... until we did.
I was still symptomatic (headache, sinus, some fatigue) and tested positive 10 days later (I spent 3-4 full days in bed, sleeping about 20hrs/day with a SLIGHT ~99 fever, but I have a low temp, so just 98.6 feels feverish) I'm at day 18 and still have some sinus and some headache, but not nearly what it was. My WH (with all the comorbidities) had much milder symptoms and had zero symptoms w/in a week.
I have friends with the EXACT same symptoms who have tested negative. Problem is tests have been so hard to come by, they may have tested positive on day 2 (or 3), but had no access to test to confirm a day or two later. And a couple of them are having the lingering symptoms (also like me).

Right. The at home tests tells you to retest if it's negative but as you said, tests are hard to come by.
I was just informed that my Medicare pharmacy plan will reimburse me for tests purchased after January 15th. I ordered a few from Amazon, I won't be completely reimbursed and didn't want to buy too many because so many others need them.
I also ordered the 4 from the Federal government. I'm holding on to the pcr tests in case I need them for an upcoming trip.
And the local hospital has TONS of testing appointments available with only a wait of 1 or 2 days.
