I'm sorry for the glitter explosion.

Just checked my mailbox. I got a card from a real estate agent that I have never contacted and who spelled my name wrong, a bill, a flyer, and something from the lifesaving society.

Sigh...maybe tomorrow.

Ah, I recognize Thren's glitter on your hand. That stuff will stay with you forever.

*Note to self, Bribe Thren with cash and sugary sweets until she tells me where she got her super, magic, sticky glitter.*

Edie -

How do you guys explain the user names in the cards to your kids?

When we were glitterfying the cards, I told DD that these were nicknames that people used based on life, relationships, and how they felt.

Her response? "Wow. This person (to remain nameless) deserves to date someone better." She thought the whole thing was cool, fun, and neato.

I received 33 cards yesterday...so the kids and I made 3 stacks, and we each opened a stack over brown paper I put on the table!

My 8 year old dd starts screaming, "WHO found Tooth Fairy dust?????!!!!"

When the Tooth Fairy visits our house, her wings become stuck in the window, therefore leaving a bit of magical tooth fairy dust on the windowsill.

Someone found that magic dust and put it in their card, and my dd has added it to her fairy dust collection in the special box in her room

I received a big stack yesterday but am waiting until the end of the week to open them.

I love how one person wrote UR_AN_IDIOT pretty large so the address label didn't quite cover it and the word IDIOT was sticking out the side.

I love ya'll!

I will open them Friday night while relaxing with my bottle of wine and enjoying my glitter bomb.

My black cockapoo sits in the chair with me. Last year I had to use the dustbuster on her.

In looking for a spot for all the cards, I realized that I can't have them out in the house. JAMF comes over here for visitation, due to DD's severe Tourette's tics (she's not comfortable anywhere else), and I don't want to expose my screen name OR any of yours.

So, the cards are all next to my bed in a basket. I get to look at them whenever I need the lift, and then I stow the basket somewhere safe before JAMF comes over. It's my secret Christmas happy place.

Yes, actually, Thren's glitter was plastered in a solid layer over the card and did not come off when I opened it. I had to use my letter opener to scrape it off into the bowl, like you would scrape ice off a window, or frosting out the can.

That might be mine Every time I see your screen name, type your screen name, or write your screen name, it makes me giggle I remember how last year you said that you felt awkward writing it over and over in your cards

I went to the PO yesterday - after reading everyone's card stories and yep - they were there! 52 of them so far! Holy cow! Thank you thank you!

It's been hard to get that Christmasy feeling this year, with bigdog's cancer and and the loss of his mom and the rest of "life" just catching up with me so these are just the thing I needed to get a jump start!

When I shared how many cards we got with bigdog he said "that's really sad" - I said "what"??! I was instantly upset and then he explained - he said "it's sad that there has to be a site like that for all those people because of doing stupid shit like I did" and then he said how awesome SI is and said we need to donate more than I did in our Card to MH & DS "because this site has been our lifesaver".

Once again, a reminder of how great this site is at Christmas time and every time of year - for all of us!

no idea yet jrc ......

and I got another one ... a tiny one but with a very real glitter bomb confetti stuff in it today ..

I made the mistake of opening the envelope and peeking in ... once I saw the "stuff" I just put it in my purse.

My purse insides are so pretty and festive ..... wonder if Coach would patent this idea ????

thank you IWBH ..... your card was sweet
