I did a thing. I got accepted in to grad school. At 52. Something I never did for myself and always wanted to. Super excited and terrified.
Wish me luck!

That's so cool! You are younger than I was when I went back to finish my Bachelors with the eventual goal of grad school. Took me 4 years to do that, going part time to Junior and Senior level courses. I walked with my diploma at age 59. Still wondering if it's too late for me to apply to a graduate program, now that I'm almost 69!!! So you are getting an early enough start, believe it or not.
What are you going to be studying?

You did an amazing thing! Good on you Bearly. I still ponder going back myself just 'cause I've always liked school. What a fabulous part of a new beginning.
You will do wonderfully - those life experiences help you approach all that learning in a really practical worldly way that is able to put all the pieces together. I think I'm a much better learner at this age when I was in my 20s. So maybe we can't do the all-nighter's any longer...but we are better at time management, right?

Congrats, BB! That's awesome!
The hardest part will be getting back into your student "groove." Until you get there, you are likely going to get frustrated at times. But persevere, and it will come!
I only say this because I have this very discussion with students of mine that are returning to college after either a long absence from a previous attempt or waiting until later in life to dive in. I love seeing them push past the frustration and succeed!

Wow BB Congrats!!!
That is awesome.
I have considered going back multiple times. I just can't justify the cost because even with an advanced degree I would not make any more money.

My brother was always the same way. He was tempted many times but knew, as an engineer, he would not make any more money to justify the cost or time involved.

Someone once told me, when I lamented about how old I would be to finish education, “well, you’re gonna be that old anyway in x amount of years, you might as well have the degree!”
Best wishes. You’re gonna kill it!!

I returned to school to earn a doctorate at 52. Best decision I could have made for myself.
I was the oldest in my cohort, and initially that was very intimidating as the younger students in my classes were very technologically adept. I had to work hard to close that gap, but I also had a much broader range of work and research experiences so that was a plus.
Good luck, you'll love it.

I wanted to go back for a doctorate. I just can't figure out how to pay for it and I am 60. I know who I would study/research under but it is impossible to afford unless I won the lottery. And it would limit my employment opportunities.
Good one you!! I am excited for you.
