Ex med student here, assisted to my good share of such surgeries, and we are good nowadays to prevent complications during and post, but I personally know the tension of having a close person under the scalpel, so I understand your trepidation.

Here is my best wishes he’ll get through recovery well and with a new found source of energy.

There are methods to help the recovery process all natural if you want to feel better as in having something practical to do to contribute post op. You probably know already as you have an exploratory mind, if you need to check I can tell you what to watch out with your physician if that might interact with the drugs he’s getting after.

It will be fine and will make you closer.
Sending my best wishes

You are welcome to send me a PM if you think I can help you. I respond when I can.
