We went out last night and could just see the tail. But we couldn't look directly at it. If we looked at the very bottom of the big dipper you could see just below to the left a faint tail.

Still pretty cool.

We did see quite a few shooting stars. That was awesome.

Yay Dragon! I was sailing in the Caribbean sea when Halle Bopp was present. So wild to just have it hanging out *right there* all the time. The night sky is so trippy and different out on the water.

I hadn't heard about the meteor showers. Details please?

I'm not very good at this astrology/horoscope thing, but I've been on the lookout for things like this just as a new something to do.

I just wanted to announce that it is officially cocklebur (I think that's what those tiny green things are) season here. I know this because my dog took off after a rabbit in the field and when I called him back to me his (quite long) ears were stuck together on top of his head. Poor guy.

cocklebur

??????

Ok burrs I understand.

My goats got into some bad burr bushes. I had to cut a few beards get them out. My Boy Robbie still wont let me near him. As if cutting his beard was the worst thing to ever happen to him lol. Guess hes still mad at me.

Ok Dragon I've been on a mission and I don't think they're officially a burr. I think they're something called "beggar's lice." I wonder if they're also the things that turn brown in the Fall and stick to you then as well - I remember my grandmother called them stick-tights. Right now they're tiny spiky seed pod balls. Insidious.

And I didn't have to do any cutting, but we had a lovely drawn-out combing session. Your poor slightly bearded Robbie...

We have small things like beggers lice though I'm not 100% sure it's the same thing.

The stuff the goats got into their beards are huge. Larger than a cherry or grape. With huge spikes coming out.

The smaller ones are annoying and get everywhere lol. I once sat down and got a pain in my butt cheek. Foind one down my pants. Like seriously how the hell....lol.

Yeah - yours are what is properly called a cockle or burr I think. Those are nasty. I found a picture of mine (not my sock or leg actually). I stink at posting pictures, but let's try....

Lol. I saw that sock photo when I googled beggers lice. We have small ones like that too but they are round. Maybe the same thing. I'll have to go look for some and take a photo. The goats eat them and any plants I saw I was cutting out and throwing over the fence. Lol

Naked goats! This thread has the oddest things.

Spent last night in someone's mountain home in a very odd loft with a taxidermy deer head staring at me. They called it bambi. Sewing retreat in the mountains? What could go wrong?

All night long one of the women had a phone that wood wolf howl whenever she got a Facebook post or something else. There was a lizard that licked and nibbled at bare toes if you sat on the back deck. He was cute. The owner gives him mealworms.

A tiny place too full of furniture with too many people. Everyone but me thought it was grand. They all ate chocolate and drank and loudly talked over the sound of 5 sewing machines and a CD playing 70s rock. I bailed out a few times to sit on the deck and listen to wind in the trees or the jays and woodpeckers. I felt like I was in a fishbowl most of the time. I did make two lovely shirtwaists circa 1905. Today hubby and grandkids will be there so even more people.......

Thank you everyone for your wisdom and healing.
