Hi Nutmeg!!! Nice to "see" you! I hope I get answers soon too.

Going to doc today with SO. I have more questions. I think I was in shock when he told me last week about another surgery. I didn't say a word. Walked out to my car and cried.

I keep trying to convince myself that the pain isn't that bad. Here I am at 4am up because my knee hurt so much. Sometimes mind over matter does absolutely nothing!

I’m so sorry about your pain. I know it can be awful.

I didn’t actually do my surgery for some time after my orthopedic doc told me I needed it.

The first time I was planning a lifelong “dream come true” trip to Israel in a few months and I was concerned that I wouldn’t be “ready” for the trip.

The second time, I went to the class, and I had one more “prep” visit with the dr on Friday before the surgery on Monday.

I asked him...”How do you know when you are really ready for a knee replacement?” His response was...”When people call me and say, “Please do the surgery...I can’t stand it one more second!” I told him that I didn’t think I was to that point, and he said, “I don’t think you are either.”

So another postponement.

Then one day I DID call him and say “I totally can’t stand the popping, grinding, and PAIN any longer.”

It is a big deal, I won’t lie. When you are walking on the leg the same day as your surgery...it’s not fun, but it sort of instilled confidence in me. I worked really hard in rehab. There for a while, there is residual aching, but finally one day it is soooo much better.

I’m 6 years post surgery. Every now and then if I have gone “90 to nothin’” all day, I have some aching. But I take steps instead of the elevator, and can sit cross legged in the floor with my grandbabies!!! 😊
