Do you Wordle?

First and foremost, no spoilers here. Please do not give hints to any answer on the day of that puzzle.

So, who's doing Wordle? I was almost a month late joining the game. I'll have to admit, I was a bit intimidated. But once I started playing and figured out my own strategy, then it became a lot of fun. H, D2 and I share answers via text when we've played, but it's not a competition (vs. D1 and her spouse, who, sheesh, are very competitive). It's just interesting to see how other people start out, then get to the answer. At one point H told me his starting word (I think when he was showing me how he played), so I told him he had to change it up; I think he has. I don't want any advantages - want to know I can get it on my own.

I've had a couple of times where I didn't get it at all, and a few times where I've gotten it in 3. I haven't broken the 2 barrier yet, but I known several people who have gotten it in 2. I alter my starting word, depending on my mood that day.

How do you Wordle?

And yup, I'm aware of all the other games that have arisen since Wordle, including Nerdle, Qurodle, Octordle, etc. You could literally spend all day on these puzzles, so I'm just sticking with Wordle.

Getting it in one or two is sheer luck. I've gotten it in two exactly once. A girlfriend of mine once got it in one when she guessed "prick," while thinking of her ex-husband laugh

Getting it in three is mostly luck but also some skill. I get it in three 21% of the time.

Getting it in four is my sweet spot. 41% of the time I get it in four.

Getting it in five or six is usually a hilarious scramble to try to figure out which of 10 different words could fit this pattern, often with just the first letter that needs to be figured out.

My real downfall is believing the word will be a much more obscure one than it actually is.

I love this game, it's such a quick nugget of satisfaction every day. I use whatever 5-letter word strikes my fancy to start with, preferring words with lots of consonants rather than vowels. Consonants are harder to figure out while vowels can often be inferred much more easily.

Use Google to search for "New York Times Wordle" and it should be your top result. It's a web page. Really quick little puzzle you can do every day, new one each day. You can post your results to your own social media without spoiling it for anyone.

I wordle. There is a wordle archive so you can go back to the very original ones if you like it.

4 tries is my normal, then 3 then 5.

I have failed a few times but the words were turkeys. Last one was batch, I had all the letters except the first one, and I tried 4 options and missed it.

I like it. It is a nice short distraction.

I have never got it first try. That is a lotto ticket day.

I wordle too. Today was 3 tries, but I’ve gotten in 2 three times. Mostly luck based on your starting word, right?
But it is fun. I post my score with a couple friends on FB— not competitive, just inclusive.
Fun little 4 minutes of the day.

I've been a Spelltower junkie for years, play it on my phone whenever I have a minute, in rush mode so it's tense and distracting, exactly what my BS squirrel brain needs when intrusive thoughts pop up.

I'm late to Wordle, but I am addicted. Thanks for letting me know I can go online and do the old ones, especially when the app is spamming me with stupid game ads. I got one word in two tries, three or four for most of them. I love a word game, have fun!

I just downloaded the app earlier this week and played yesterday for the first time ever. The ads are irritating, but I'm not paying to remove them. I'm kinda feeling my way on it... not sure of all the details yet, like what exactly happens if you never guess the word or if it's just random words with no rhyme or reason. I'm sure if I give it some time I'll wind up addicted to it like I am with Wordscapes.

Can you do it on an app?

When someone told me about Wordle earlier in the year, I accidentally downloaded the wrong thing from the app store. (Some weird imposter and a totally different game)

They steered me to the website and I just do it on there every day. Haven't seen any ads.

Anyone else?

I started with the app on my phone. Most annoying game for ads ever. Have to wait them out to play the next one.

I'm saving the NYT link on my phone browser to use instead of the app, it's much nicer, no ads. I found a site that has all the saved ones called wordle archive, its a shareware site. I don't have this kind of time haha

I didn't even know there was an app. I just go to the NYT website, then Wordle. Word is, they have no intention of putting it behind a paywall, at least that's what they said when they bought it from the creator. I do subscribe to the NYT, so it wouldn't impact me, but I know a lot of people would not be able play if it required a subscription.

Live this game.

I’ve got it in 2 3x

It is sometimes luck IMO.
