Trans folk have every right to be who they are, that's not even a question. However, there's advocacy, and then there is hate. That's not the way to foster goodwill IMO.

I don't know who this person is. The transworld I'm aware of here is the one where if you're trans, you're lying, insane, going to hell, should get the shit beaten out of you, are a rape suspect for even existing, are just gay and acting silly, should have no rights, only identify that way because you want to play women's basketball, just need attention, so on and so forth.

If you have a trans badass who is being confrontational like that, you know...sometimes that's what is needed. It doesn't make her right, but it does maybe drag things more to the middle when you have an extremist. Minorities are so often told to sit down and shut up and stop making everyone so uncomfortable with their existences. Let us pretend that things are as they always have been and keep yourself in your place. If such attitudes have driven someone to defiance and anger and they have a public platform, that's probably what it takes to get things done.

I have no sympathy for the "but my feelings trump your rights" thing. When I see a transwoman in the bathroom, I prepare to join her in battle if anyone says anything because this woman has taken more than enough shit from those who think she shouldn't exist and I'm not here for it. If she went into the men's room, she'd likely get beaten up and hey, maybe raped. She endures more hatred than I ever will. Maybe I got the period cramps and have to worry about menopause, but she got despised for existing, so she has more than paid her dues to be a woman. Honestly, if you had to logically choose whether to be female or male in this society, you'd choose male all day long. So to want to be female is pretty big.

And, you know, as a woman, the idea that the only thing that matters about me is what my genitals look like is offensive. It reduces me to a vagina and ovaries. I'm a person. We have laws here proposed that would allow school officials to look at the genitals of a student to confirm their gender. I cannot fully express the wrath of God that would come down from me upon any school official who looked at my daughter's trans friend's crotch and I'm not even her parent.

Yes, and this is what's happening when women gathering to talk are labelled with a hateful acronym, shut down and driven out with death threats and intimidation. It isn't right.

I'm not okay with death threats. I'm also not okay with people suddenly acting like victims as soon as a marginalized group starts getting rights. I'm not victimized by "pregnant people". I don't give a shit what any particular woman's genitals look like. The only reason I worry about anyone's genitals is if I'm having sex with them. As I don't have sex with women, it doesn't matter to me what they have going on down there. The only way a trans-man's genitals affect me is if I'm dating that person. Otherwise, so totally does not matter and isn't my business.

Whomever this person you guys are talking about is, she might be a nut. There are nuts in every possible configuration of people. I don't like anyone killing an animal to threaten people (the killing of the animal alone is uncool). But hateful acronyms can sometimes be earned by what those groups gathered together actually stand for. I can think of tons of groups of people who stand for bigoted stuff. If that's what you stand for, don't be offended when it's pointed out.

When i was going to have the birds and bees talk with my twins, one male the other female, i didn't say some people menstruate. I said females do. This eliminates the possibility for the boy to think that he's going to bleed out his penis

Where I get this idea is that you are bothered by "pregnant people" because it isn't accurate. The only people who can be pregnant are female. That leaves out the possibility of a trans-man who is biologically female and is pregnant. Is he a he only before and after the pregnancy or is he never to be recognized as a he?
