My grandma and mom had great green thumbs. Me, not so much. I'm thankful to live in an agricultural area and can buy great produce. One of my favorites is a tomato sandwich.

I only have one thumb. I lost the other one over 50 years ago. It was the green one. The plants are not doing well.

I love when you make your thumb jokes steady. I think my favorite of yours is that you can only hitchhike one way. *snort*

It's a real problem. I keep going back to where I'm coming from and not getting to where I wanted to go to.

Well i saw watermelons in the grocery store today. Dammit i meant to go back and grab one but the lineup was around the back of the store AND everyone was royally pissed off. I just wanted to get out of there before i required bail money!

As for my own garden, the radishes are yummy. The green beans are making their way to producing beans but i planted late (good thing too because we had late frost) but i also misplaced my new bag of seeds and just planted what was left over from last year. No tomatoes.

What else you guys have in your garden? I've been pretty disappointed with the crop of tomatoes this year. Not sure if it's due to wonky weather - hot - monsoon - drought - hot cycle or what. Sniff.

I planted radishes, carrots, beats, beans and swiss chard but only the radishes and beans produced anything.

My mother is overwhelmed with zucchini but none of her broccoli or cauliflower came up.

It has been a bad year for gardens and crops. One farmer told me he was still waiting on the first cut of hay. Others have gotten to their second cut already further south.

Some people around me had great success. I think i planted in to low an area and with all the rain it just drown alot of the plants.

Thats amazing for sure, you are powerful. grin

But what defines a killed thread? One that hasnt been replied to in a couple of days or one thats actually locked due to no activity for so long?

But what defines a killed thread?

I picture it kind of like being at a party and a group of folks are all standing together - having a nice robust conversation - back and forth - everyone responding to everyone else. Nice and vibrant. I walk up and give my .02 and things go silent before everyone just starts to walk away. Like that.

Last word or outright buzzkill...either qualifies?

I watched Happy Days this week. The years dialled back into an almost unbelievable world. The Fonz was still cool.

lea and TG: are we revealing our our age to Drgn by riffing on the Fonz?

Drgn: if you've ever heard the phrase "jumping the shark" - it's a reference for when something like a tv series has strayed wildly past its original theme and does something wacky and over the top as a kind of gimmick.

Happy Days had Fonzie literally jumping sharks on water skiis in his leather jacket. Which was a little out there for a show that was previously focused mostly on kids hanging out at a soda shop...
