Trip of a Lifetime

AbandonedGuy posted 6/2/2019 00:44 AM

Well I did it. I took a week and a half off over the holiday to hike through one national park after another. Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. All by myself. It was weird at times because most of those places are built for couples and then there's me, one solo adventurer out of maybe a dozen total, but it was so worth it. If you're truly into nature, it's a great opportunity to clear your head. Can't wait to take someone with me next time.

So happy for you!! I think going solo was probably a good thing. You are a complete person. When you are happy being single, you'll be ready for the right lady to come along.

Coincidentally, my first post separation trip was to Moab. I hiked Arches and Canyonlands. (I had my cousin with me). I can't describe how meaningful it was to hike amidst all of that grandeur. But you already know, don't you.

Keep going, AG. The world is a beautiful place. Nothing is holding us back, now!

Wonderful and inspiring!

Wow! Happy for you AG! I bet it was amazing

What a great post to read. Good for you!! Have you begun planning your next solo adventure?

Scoobydoo posted 6/3/2019 08:07 AM

Sounds like an awesome adventure for you,

super happy you done something for yourself,

I have just booked my trip of a lifetime, 3 weeks in Mexico,

really hope I can cope with my own company for that long

AbandonedGuy posted 6/3/2019 11:32 AM

Next big solo adventure might be to a few other parks. Hiking is a good solo activity because holding a conversation when you're huffing and puffing up a mountain isn't the best. Also skydiving. I'm definitely skydiving before the Summer's over.

Hawaii and Australia are next on my bucket list, but I really, really want to go with someone.

Whereabouts in Mexico are you headed? What have you got lined up for 3 full weeks?

This sounds promising and hopeful!

I have been hiking some with friends and also my son. We obviously are slackers lol because we can talk easily.

Skydiving is not on MY bucket list, but you go!! Tell us all about it.

I am planning to go to Experimental Aviation in Oskosh this year again tho. Scary as anything for me to go somewhere like that alone but you show us a life beyond infidelity is possible.

People going on with their lives gives us all hope.

I'm going on a solo cruise. Leave on Sunday and booked a studio cabin, which equals access to the studio lounge. There will be at minimum 58 other people traveling alone, and the cruise staff organize the solos for dinners, theater, etc. I am going to force my introverted self to be social.

I know I will have a great time.
