Hello! Can anyone recommend an inexpensive home security system? We need to install one very soon. Thanks!

WE use Arlo. It is self installed, and montiored. Links to your phone w/ an app, records video only.

Super easy to install and use.

My DD uses Vivint and really likes it a lot. Not sure of cost though.

We also use Arlo and really like it. The camera batteries last a long time and are rechargeable.

.. my first thought was.. Have you considered a doberman?..

Cost is wide ranging depending on the level of security you're seeking. Minimal costs may only get you 'minimal' level coverage.

Do you want flashing lights, sirens, and electrified bars on all the windows?

Simple, easy door bell cams with phone app hookup are popular it seems.

We have two cats, so we're good.

last year we got ding dong dashed for halloween and our broken doorbell was on all night long. wouldn have been nice to see who did that.

Sorry sewardak, it was me. I didn't realize it would cause your doorbell to stick.

We have Amp Smart. Camera at the front (doorbell), voice capabilities too, alarms that will let the security company know to contact the police (ask me how I know it works ). It alerts us on our phones when the alarm is set or disabled, we have the ability to adjust the thermostat remotely too. And honestly I'm not sure what all, but we pay like $71/month. Peace of mind is totally worth it, especially since the kids and I are there alone Monday through Friday while DH works out of state.
