Friday morning about 6:15 I went to let my kitty out on my 2nd floor deck at my apartment and there was a young man standing on the sidewalk. I thought it was odd, but told myself maybe he was waiting for a ride. A minute later the cat came running in, so I thought I’d close the door. Then I thought, but the bedroom window is open. I went to close it and there he was, chest high above my deck floor about to pull himself up! I screamed at him to get the f**k out of here and slammed and locked the window. I think he went down (hope he broke a foot) and called 911...
They never found him. I’m so shaken and mad. People are telling me I need a gun. Maybe a pellet gun, I can’t risk a stray bullet! I always thought it would take Spider man to climb up here! I guess not. I think cameras too... crap

Get a few cans of mace or red pepper spray and place them strategically around your place. Cheap and effective.
Do you have an alarm system?

No alarm, bug spray and a hammer for now!

I have the ring doorbell at my front and back. It takes great video and alerts me when motion is detected.
I also keep a big bbq spear/fork thingy just under my mattress on the side with the handle barely sticking out. Just in case.
There are little metal locks you can put on your windows that allow you to keep your window open half way but stop it from opening far enough for a person to crawl in. They don't need any tools to install, it has a little thumb screw on it. I keep one on my sliding door, too.

Wasp spray is good for defense. Some of them can spray 25ft away. Always aim for the eyes.
No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

So sorry that happened to you! Thank goodness you are safe!
Did you make a report with the police? You might not be the first home / apt. he stopped at, and it will give the cops a heads up to keep an eye on your neighborhood. Tell your neighbors so they know to lock their windows and doors and cars.

I think that a nice barbed wire addition to your deck floor would be a lovely idea!
That would scare the crap out of me. I'd probably have a heart attack. Getting a gun, even a pellet gun, isn't a bad idea. I should take my own advise as the protection I have is a golf club. But, I could do some damage!
Divorced - recovered and hoping to help.

Wyze cameras are $20 apiece, have cloud storage for events, alerts, the whole nine yards.
And for folks who don't like guns (like me), I have a hefty baseball bat for self-defense.

I'm thinking you should also get a can of hot pink glittery spray paint - they should have an easier time finding him
