I would like to suggest Catriona King and Sue Welfare. Sue Welfare has one thriller out to date (writing her second at the moment) but Catriona King has an amazing series out about some detectives in Ireland... the Craig Crime series. I was reading one and it reminded me of Patricia Cornwell who is one of my favourite authors.

Louise Penny

Stephen Booth

Both write great series. Penny is a Canadian and her books are set in Quebec. Really good.

Robert Galbraith aka J.K.Rowland of Harry Potter fame...she has written three books about a detective (Cormoron Strike) that are pretty well done.

I've really gotten into foreign mystery writers after the "Dragon Tattoo" series. Some are:

Henning Mankell

Jo Nesbo

Jussi Adler-Olsen

Fred Vargas

Nele Neuhaus

and one older one is Georges Simenon.

Books by Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine, she writes under two names. For some reason I tend to like her RR books most.

I can't thank you enough for all the author ideas. I checkout audio books from the library to listen to going to and from work, at night going to bed, and on weekends.... Practically all the time. I go through them so quickly!

Books have become my only friend and saving grace

I did not read all of the comments, but I enjoy the "In Death" series by J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts). It is a series of books about LT. Eve Dallas in the future (2059 - 2061 so far). Great series
