Hi. I'm here trying to get advice from other wayward spouses.
I had an affair for nearly a year and my husband and I are currently working on reconciliation and healing.
I'm just here trying to build up my support and advice network and help Amy fellow WS if I can.

Kristy

Here to try to learn and get better.

Hi Kristy,

There is a lot of good advice to be found on here. What I will say to you as a new poster is the following

- Read "How to help your spouse heal from your affair" Linda MacDonald. A short book, but really useful to a WS who wants to heal

- There are some great people on here who can help. PLEASE listen to them and follow their advice. I read and chose to ignore as I knew better. I knew what I needed to do to heal. I was wrong.

- Can you please post your story and areas where you struggle? That was we can know where to support.

- People are kind, however that kindness does sometimes hurt to read. The WS on here who support have been where you are and know the pain they have caused and the effort needed to repair themselves and their marriage. It is not easy. Please do not be offended by the advice given.

- You will find support here, but you need to do the work. I came here to find a nice simple solution to "fix" me. That will not happen. The road is long and hard. However when I have made positive changes to me and my behaviours, the relief that comes with it is healing.

- keep asking questions. Any doubts or any clarification needed please ask. Hey, if and when you have a bad day, come on here. People might offer the same support but they will be here. Rare is a wayward who repaired themselves and their marriage overnight and without difficulties and poor choices on the way.

Hi- I hope you will stay and tell us more of your story at some point.

There is. Healing library on your left that has some articles in it. There re a few pinned posts at the top of the forum.

I had a two month affair 8 years ago. The ripple effect of that u til today has been both painful but also transforming. I have much more peaceful mind now but it was tough getting here. I just want to encourage you to take the reigns of your individual healing. Many focus just on repairing the marriage but without the personal growth it will never have the same impact.

One foot in front of the other, and keep choosing the next right thing.

Best wishes.
