Cant figure this out Help

cissie posted 10/2/2018 22:34 PM

I have just achieved the dubious honor to qualify for full length compression stockings.

But how do you get them on?

I cannnot get my feet in them let alone pull them up.
There must be some trick, but they do not come with instructions.
I saw some with zips, but they are only knee high and I need full length.

And how will I get them off again if I suceed in getting them on?

Did you check youtube? There are video directions for everything!

Do they have the holes in the foot?

If they do, get a plastic bag, like a bread bag, put it over your foot, scrunch the stockings up, put over toe and pull up over plastic bag, then pull plastic bag out of foot hole.

Make sure your legs are dry, and apply some baby powder to help.
Then turn them basically inside out, with you hand holding the foot portion and the leg portion going up your arm, slide your foot into the foot part, and get the heel lined up properly. From there with the arm that is in the stocking continue to slide it up, along with pulling from the hand that is not in the stocking.

Did you measure your legs prior to purchasing? If not you may need a different size. They are a bear to put on the first few times. Make sure you have all wrinkles out of them, as that can hurt and cause blisters.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was about to embark on a 7 hour flight and had been recommended to use the stockings. I was measured for them.

I have toeless and toed stockings and they are thigh highs. I managed to get them on using a slight variation of TUSH's advice. With the toeless type I did finish up the first try wth the heels a quarter way up the back of my leg.

However I did master it before the flight and - wonders - no swollen ankles at the end of the trip and a much more comfortable flight.

I will try the plastic bag technique with the toeless version next time.

This is such a great place for everything. Someone here always knows the answer.
