One thing about experience, bad or positive, is that they are always occasions to open your mind and eyes to see more in things you already experienced before.

And this is funny and surprising at the same time.

Sometimes you get things popping in your mind out of the blue.

I don’t believe it to be random anymore though, they get called out from the mists of past memories for a reason.

Few days ago it happened to me and painted a smile on my face. Because I finally get it at a deeper level.

There’s a singer who died in the early 2000, so he was the kind of person that my parents liked since they were young, in the 80s.

He is without a doubt the greatest artist in Italy, might not ever been mainstream because he was a "cantautore" so he was a painful thorn in the side of the entire establishment, but too big and loved to be silenced, the kind of person that even their enemies are grudgingly forced to praise in public. he’s universally recognized as the greatest.

His texts are always very simple and at the same time deep and complex.

Anyway, you can’t know him because he’s a foreign artist, but for some reason a verse of one of his songs popped into my mind.

Unusual because being a foreigner in a foreign country I am so rarely using my native language that I am not longer used to even think in it, I think in the languages I use, English included.

And since months I generally don’t indulge in thinking about stuff any longer, I live in the moment.

So I believe that something was going on in the subconscious layers of the mind that brought it up.

The verse was this (translated and paraphrased so it kind of loses the form of poetry and may sound silly, but let’s try)

Love and laugh (live it, as in embracing) if love responds (to yours),

Cry out loudly if it’s not hearing you (not reciprocating yours),

From the diamonds nothing is born,

From the manure, the flowers are born

The topic is kind of our stuff here.

What can I say, I get it now.

And that made me smile.

Wholesome
