Fast Girl- Suzy Favor Hamilton
Interesting, quick read. A very short summary would be that she was a college/Olympic athlete who struggled with undiagnosed BPD. After being prescribed Zoloft, she became hypersexual/addicted to the high of sex and became an escort in Las Vegas. Her BS initially agreed thinking it would help their marriage and her depression.
Not having experience in BPD, I was curious if her story resonated with others?
Reading the book, you get a bit of insight about how detached it all is and how it follows the same patterns of low self-esteem, ego kibbles, and justifications. She wanted to be rated high in the escort standings, therefore, needed good reviews. She was able to ignore the marriages being impacted and her value as a person because she became so wrapped up in being validated by the reviews, presents, and cash. She saw it as two different worlds and was never going to leave her husband.
Also, I thought it would have been interesting to read her BS version. Like many of the stories on SI, it followed the typical path where the WS spirals out of control and doesn't register anything the BS says or does. It isn't until the WS hits rock bottom do they wake up from their delusions.
