Thank you Pippin,
For your kind reply, and willingness to see that my response had some validity as I also gave yours. I was deeply injured by the faith and so I look at it, even when I try not to, with colored glasses. And, in full honesty, a person of faith looks at their faith, even if they do not mean to, with colored glass, just different shades, with different outcomes.
For instance, I can see how you could read that scripture from a "saved" individual and focus on the "you are washed clean by the blood of the lamb" therefor the doors of heaven are opened to you. But from my perspective, I focused on the whole scripture verse which condemned entire communities and peoples who do not necessarily follow Jesus as their lord and savior. The gates of heaven, the love of their creator, has not only closed the gates of heaven to them but has banished them to an eternity of burning hell and damnation.
I reread it from your perspective now I’d like you to reread it from mine and then ask yourself, was my thread a proper place to condemn those (me included) who are not of one’s personal faith? Was it kind to fellow SI’s (me included)? Was it necessary? What was the goal?
The community here at SI is large and diverse and to attempt to place judgement on them, shame them, and demoralize them based on one’s faith, not fact is just not acceptable to me and I will defend myself and my brethren every single time.
I may appear to be angry and I am not. But I am firm.
I hope you can understand.
