Does anyone have any advice on mental health facilities and voluntary admissions? I know this might be a touchy subject, feel free to dm or be very vague if you answer...
I'm struggling to really get any significant, ongoing traction on some of my issues and problems. I keep wondering if intensive, inpatient treatment and possible diagnosis/medication might not be necessary but am worried about not only the financial cost but what extra issues it might cause my family as well. As well as my own willingness to follow through and change myself.
So, I guess my question, for those that have 'been there' was it helpful, could you have gotten similar results another way, was it worth the 'cost'. And how did you know where to go or if you're really at 'that point'.

I checked myself voluntarily into a psychiatric wing of a hospital years ago. I went to the ER, told them I was suicidal and had a plan, and that I’d attempted suicide twice in the past. They admitted me and I was there for five days.
There were people there who were not in patient like me. They came during the day on weekdays and did everything we did, but they left at the end of the business day and went home. Insurance covered mine and I am pretty sure it covered them. Can you call your insurance and ask about their mental health coverage? Can you call a nearby hospital and ask about their psychiatric services?
