The 5th Wave

JeSuisBroken posted 1/12/2016 16:31 PM

I get suckered into reading new YA books every time a new movie comes out. If the movie looks good, I immediately begin reading the book so I can finish it by the time I see the movie.

I'm over halfway through this book and I love it so far. Even though it's written by a man, I like the way Cassie and Zombie think. Yes, it's the end of the world, yes there are horrible things happening, but once in a while thoughts of crushes, or finding people attractive will happen.

Some people think Cassie seems whiny and vain, I think that she sounds like a teenage girl, not all, but I think he did a good job of portraying what a teenage girl might think and feel when everything is crashing down around her.

Any thoughts? Don't ruin the ending, I'm really getting into this!

(Also, side note: could Hollywood stop using adults to portray 16 year olds? I feel creepy thinking the actor (who is only a few years younger than me) is a total stud when he's supposed to be a sixteen year old)

LOVED this book. My students do too. You'll need to grab the sequel!

I read the second one and was disappointed to learn the third hasn't come out yet!

My mom read this years ago and still talks about it. Just seeing the title made me chuckle. I'll have to read it o ve I am done with all my stupid psychology and divorce books.

How is the movie?
I love Chloe Grace and wanted to see it/read it but heard reviews were poor.

I also didn't know there was a book sequel. I should give it a go

It's a trilogy. Most YA books are these days.
