Continue with the D process, have him apologize to all family and close friends (they were betrayed too), kick him out of the house, tell him that after the D is finalized and he gives you everything he promised and based on his work and behavior that MAYBE you will consider dating him again, don't forget to get tested for STDs.

I can’t see your original post. Did he meet her online? What was he doing? If he was looking then there is no guarantee he won’t do it again. He needs to be very honest with himself about what he thought he was missing. This society of our makes me chew nails. A bump in the emotional road, a job loss, a new baby, a mislife crisis and we bail. The problem with leaving one relationship for another is we just drag all our shit right along with us. He needs to get real. What did he think he was going to find? There aren’t many babes floating free out there.

You can D first, ask him to take an appartement then re-evaluate.

His consequence will be the loss of his marriage. He might be able to demonstrate he’s R material afterwards...

^^^^THIS.

Gently, you're making this too easy for him. IMHO, if he does not experience hard consequences, he will be a repeat offender. Doesn't matter if he had a psychotic break...what he put you through after all those years of M is reprehensible; this is a time in your life where you should feel secure in your married life.

Hugs...
