Positive things from 2020 ???

Pages: 1 · 2

WhatsRight posted 10/17/2020 09:02 AM

Just to try to switch things around with our sheer will !!!

1. My grandson was born 🥰 🥳 🥰
(Picture would follow if I could figure out how to do it 🙄)

Surely there is more if we really think.

The amount of mass shootings has decreased massively.
Other than that I got nothing.

EllieKMAS posted 10/17/2020 14:59 PM

I got my new floors. I got a new job. I learned a lot more about how our government works. I read a lot. I refinished my entertainment center. I paid off two old debts, which brings me closer to getting my credit cleaned up and getting to move. I reduced my stress by being able to work from home.

It's been a weird year for sure but I can't say I haven't had a lot of blessings too!

LosferWords posted 10/17/2020 15:23 PM

I got my divorce finalized. Got put into a new job role that I really seem to click with, and I adore the new people I work with. Son and I both had some medical emergencies that required an ambulance ride for each of us, but we didn't die!!! And we are doing well. Found out my heart and lungs look well, despite 30+ years of smoking (quit 3.5 years ago). I still get to live and breathe, and watch sunsets from my back patio. Making new friends, deepening some old bonds. Starting to finally feel sane, despite all the craziness going on. Relearning to find gratitude in the little things, and attitude when people try to step on me. Been a crazy year, but still some positives. Thankful for this thread, WhatsRight.

Two engagements and a wedding.

I had the BEST views of humpback whales in March, in Maui. It was spiritual and truly God-sent.

WeightWatchers diet allowed me to lose the few lbs I was hating. Even though covid added pounds, it was far easier to get back to normal.

Got the garage finally purged.

He sold the F...ing boat!

His heart attack in July was labeled "mild" even though he was stented in 2 places.

The deer didn't eat my whole garden until after wedding pictures.

I think I can think of more...

Even though my New Beginnings have had a major hiccup during this downright stupid year, I've been back to my toolbox and pulled out ways to find lots of joy:

1. Staying connected virtually with long-time friends and re-connecting with others from school and such where we had gotten a little lazy at staying in touch. Have laughed and told tales and dug up old pictures of each other to share.

2. Writing. Lots of writing. All absolute shit, but still doing it.

3. On the subject of writing though...I found all these postcards here and there from my travels through the years. I've been sending them to everyone in my address book randomly. Especially those folks who are in assisted living and have been so very isolated. Getting ready to draw pumpkins and black cats and spiderwebs on some for the Halloween round. Feels good to "re-purpose" things that have just been sitting around.

4. Major house project in the works. Just "broke ground" actually. Sooooo. Excited. Apparently this is one of my go-to things to landmark a new start. Last time around it was a new kitchen.

(I realized how much I was missing having a "something" to look forward to though and this fits the bill).

Um... I haven't went on a 5 state killing spree.

That's a positive, right?

Ok, ok, let's see...

I connected with some old friends that I hadn't talked to in many years. That was really lovely.

Despite my uncle having a significant decline related to his MS, he is improving. And when the time comes that he declines and doesn't bounce back at all, we can put him on hospice and still keep him home. Maybe that doesn't sound positive to others, but trust me, this is all good. I have been worried about his future and trying to avoid putting him in a nursing home. Having a solid, workable plan is a relief that I cannot put into words.

I have a great, supportive husband, which is good because I'm dealing with some new disabilities and am really struggling with acceptance right now.

Good way to provoke good thoughts, WhatsRight 💜

I have gotten back on my bike in spite of my carpal tunnel syndrome I am riding farther than ever before. Working on getting the whole family riding together. It’s a great stress reliever. My husband is finally getting to work from home and will probably stay that way until retirement.l

Adopted a dog! She listens to all my troubles and gives me unconditional love.

sewardak posted 10/17/2020 19:44 PM

because of Covid, ppl didn't want to travel too far. Our lake home rental had the best year ever!!

WhatsRight posted 10/18/2020 08:14 AM

I absolutely LOVE reading this stuff!!!

Adlham...so sorry about the challenges. I get it with regards to acceptance. Every year instead of New Year’s resolutions, I choose “One Word” (the name of the book/program) to represent what I need to best effect my life positively. Then you move on to another word next year.

“Acceptance “ has been my word for 3 years now!

So glad your H is supportive.

And really great news about the lack of a killing spree!!! We all appreciate that one!

Humpback whales and WeightWatchers - can’t think of 2 things I need worse!

Family activities, rented property, reconnecting with friends, working on projects, weddings, H working at home out of the COVID nightmare...

These are all FABULOUS!!!

More please!

I am looking for a puppy. I have 2 dogs now but 1 is my granddaughters’mother’s. They will get a place of their own soon and take her.

And then there will be only 1. And I always have at least 2 so they won’t be lonely, and in the event of........

Anyway, looking for a mini dachshund, but they are sooooo expensive.

Anyway...so glad your new baby is loving you like she should!!!

We renewed our wedding vows with our adult children present. On the beach. Grat trip. Very special.
Our health is good. Work is going well. And I lost a little weight. (Almost 20 pounds)

Adlham posted 10/18/2020 21:00 PM

WhatsRight- no worries about the 5 state spree.

I have a list. None of you are on it

WhatsRight posted 10/19/2020 01:00 AM

Got bikes for son and grandson.

Took a bike ride with son and GS.

Pedaled my bike more than 1,000 miles for the 4th consecutive year.

Got my bike powder-coated, and it's gorgeous.

Crossed 2 big weight-loss milestones.

Found some TV shows that are LOTS of fun to watch with my W.

Still waking up with my W.

Read a lot of good novels.

Crossed 2 big weight-loss milestones.

Me too, but I’m assuming yours were in an opposite direction from mine.

But I digress...this is a positive thread!

(For the record, I am POSITIVE I have gained weight...just sayin’!)

WhatsRight posted 10/20/2020 06:58 AM

All three of my adult sons are presently living with us!

Oh...I keep forgetting - this is a POSITIVE thread!

No, but seriously, I think I am noticing them get along better these days. And that is totally positive!!!
