Happy Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday

Anyone got any special meals/recipes on the go?

Anyone got any special meals/recipes on the go?

Other than taking eggs and cheese and ham or bacon or sausage and sandwiching them between two small pancakes with real Maple syrup in a ramikin or packets of jelly for a "dipping sauce" or condiment, I don't at the moment.

But your question reminds me of a rumor that sneakers were popularized by a fellow using a waffle iron in his mother's kitchen to make a rubber sole with traction to invent or at least popularize the first set of athletic sneakers ever.

Does that count as a special recipe on the "go"?

It certainly did "go" well for him. I think that was the founder of the Adidas company if I remember correctly.

Sorry Caterpillar but you're a week out, it's not till next Tuesday

Caterpillar is living in the future. It's all good.

I'm laying here with a migraine wishing for my stomach to at least settle. Barfing up my coffee sucked! I read this earlier and though cool, we can do breakfast for dinner today...Now I can't even look at food. Told WH he's making dinner and I'm going to bed when he gets home

HAHA, that's hilarious. THankyou for correcting me before I made crepes for dinner

So apparently we have a week to plan it....what are we having NEXT Tuesday.

I'm such a numpty.

Mmmmmmm. Crepes with cottage cheese and jam, rolled up and drizzled in Maple syrup. Oh man that sounds so good.

For sweet crepe you can't beat the classic lemon juice and sugar/golden syrup (although nutella is a close second!). If I had the cointreu crepe suzette is gooooood! My friend flatmate at uni would flambe crepes with rum and banana, but I don't have the skills.

Where I was at uni there was an amazing little cafe whose entire menu was various crepes. My favourite was flaked salmon with a sour cream dressing, it came with salad and french dressing. SO GOOD!

For Scotch/American pancakes it's maple syrup all the way :) I can't get on board with having them with bacon/eggs/sausage like they do in America. They have to be on a separate plate.

But apparently I have a full week to decide on what pancakes I'm having (and what (if anything) I'm giving up for Lent).

I didn't know crepes counted as pancakes, btw. Now I'm flash backing to having cheese blintz crepes with strawberry sauce and whipped cream at IHOP (International House of Pancakes).

I guess if they were standard IHOP fare then they really were pancakes by their definition as well now that I've written all that out on here .

I guess I'll just settle for pecan waffles with real grade B Maple syrup (I very much prefer grade B, btw) for lunch today.

I made breakfast for dinner on Thursday. Pancakes, bacon and eggs. Oh yum!

I'm not sure what I did differently, but the pancakes came out really fluffy and thick I stead of flat like they usually do. And I found a trick to get the kids to eat all of them....Drizzle them with a bit of chocolate syrup while cooking.

Alrighty....second time lucky....

It's pancake day tomorrow!

I'm gonna be treating myself to crepes for dinner :D

In our house pancakes usually meant crepes. Little fat fluffy pancakes were scotch pancakes and later american pancakes. But not flapjacks. Flapjacks to us meant a chewy snack made with oats and golden syrup (which, btw, you should definitely look up because they are gooooooood)

I had 100% authentic Polish Paczki today, sent to me by one of my vendors. Every year, he and his family and friends get together and make them (his grandparents owned a bakery).

Just one, but oh, ever so good!
