Yeah, that was some fabulous tap dancing he pulled off there.

MangledHeart posted 5/19/2015 08:50 AM

Look kind of like Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty:

He does look a bit like him. I bet he doesn't sing as well.

but will someone PLEASE reassure me that Ramsey will soon suffer a gloriously slow and painful end? Preferably at the hands of Sansa?

I don't suspect it will be soon. But I cannot imagine a character like Ramsey not to suffer a horrific death. In the books my last recollection of Sansa is still in The Vale. That is something that changed dramatically in the HBO series.

In the books there is another story about Ramsey marrying a woman for her lands. After which he holds her hostage in her keep and starves her to the point that she eats her own fingers.

It is hard to say what will become of him. If you haven't seen Sunday night's episode yet stop reading here. The look on Theon's face at the end made me think he was about to crack and kill Ramsey himself.

nowiknow23 posted 5/19/2015 09:26 AM

Very different from the books, then.

I thought the same thing with Theon. Fingers crossed.

gypsybird87 posted 5/19/2015 13:57 PM

I haven't read the books, so maybe I'm just not aware of groundwork being laid etc... but I have to say that I am underwhelmed with this season so far. My SO and my father who also both watch, feel the same way. I just feel like the major plotlines have not moved forward at all this season. Sansa got married (poor girl), Tommen got married, Jon became lord commander of the watch, and that's about it.

Dany- still trying to rule
Stannis- still hasn't marched on Winterfell
Bran- still MIA
Tyrion- kidnapped twice now by two different parties, Jorah and the slavers, and still headed to the same place- Slavers Bay
Cersei- still a bitch, ugh

The season is half over and I feel like way too much precious airtime has been spent watching Arya wash corpses and Brienne and Pod riding horses. The whole storyline with the weird monks and Lancel Lannister both confuses and bores me. And now Loris Tyrel has been arrested for being gay? Okay. Obviously I disagree with that on principle, but in the grand scheme of the plot, who cares? Why are we spending time on this comparatively small element?? Again, maybe it's going to tie in later in some way that I don't see, but right now it's just frustrating.

Help! I LOVE this show and never thought I'd feel this way about a single episode, much less five in a row. I feel like the whole season so far has been a weird, watered down version of the real GoT. Am I the only one who feels this way?

As mentioned, I haven't read the books, so no spoilers please. But if someone can provide insight to help me enjoy this season more, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

My neighbor said the same thing to me last night. I agree but I'm pretty confident things are going to begin to change very soon.

As mentioned, I haven't read the books, so no spoilers please.

I will try not to spoil anything. But the arrest of the Tyrell's is a significant event considering how much the Lannisters rely on their alliance. This also demonstrates the increasing power of the sparrows. The situation with Arya is evolving now that she has been introduced to a new chamber of the House of Black & White. What do you suppose those columns of faces are for?

From what I've read of interviews there are going to be some spoilers for the book readers in seasons 5 & 6. One of those was the death of Selmy.

gypsybird87 posted 5/19/2015 16:24 PM

Thanks, MH.

I will definitely keep watching. I have far too much time and emotion invested in this show to quit, but I am ready for a turn of the tide. I hope you are right and that things pick up very soon.

The Sparrows, yes. See? They're so uninteresting to me that I couldn't even remember what they are called. But it sounds like they are going to become significant, so I shall try to pay better attention to them.

I'm guessing the faces in the columns are used by the faceless men to assume other identities? I'm glad that plotline has finally moved, but it seems like it took forever to happen. Maybe it was supposed to be suspenseful, but I just found it tedious. I hope they keep pressing forward with it.

Thanks again for the insight and encouragement! It does help.

ETA: My father thinks the problem is that the body count is too low. I suppose he might have a point, if you compare this to prior seasons...

I think he is right in the fact that this season is lacking in both sex and violence. We have got used to hanging on the edge of our seat waiting for the next blood bath involving a beloved character.

I have actually been enjoying the fact that I haven't read the books. I can just take the unfolding story as it is while HT sits beside me telling me that it's not how it happens in the books, lol.
I'm anxious to see what Cercei does to our sweet but manipulative queen now that she has been arrested! There should be some good fun there.

Btw, Ramsey is such an asshole! I feel certain he will get what is coming to him. The last time I disliked a character so much was Joffrey and look what happened to him!

whiteflower99 posted 5/20/2015 12:43 PM

I would love for Theon to snap and kill Ramsay, but I think that would be too quick a death for him. Maybe Stannis will (finally) attack Winterfell and Melisandre will burn him.
What I think is going to happen involves Sansa lighting a candle in a certain window and Ramsay suffering an "accident"

I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it. Although the lady that said it could be one of Ramsey's people and it is a setup to test Sansa's loyalty. That would really suck.

Omg. I love this post! Huge GOT fan here.

.

Isn't she Old Nan? I thought she (old woman) was the same lady who took care of Bran after he fell. I admit, it seems like something Ramsay would do, and it is typical of GRRM. I wish Sansa could find Lady, even in her dreams. It the books it appears that All the Starks had warg abilities. It would be awesome if Bolton was eaten by one of the Stark wolves.

nowiknow23 posted 5/26/2015 09:16 AM

Poor Old Nan.

I must say, I'm rather looking forward to watching a desperate Cersei.

yearsofpain25 posted 5/26/2015 14:38 PM

Poor Old Nan.

And poor "old" Sansa at this point too. She is snowed in with Ramsay and his evil. We were having a debate here at work today. Who is more evil/narcissitic. Ramsay or Joffrey. I had my money on Ramsay but some people had a point in that Joffrey was just still a kid for the most part and on his way to being worse than Ramsay. I still say that Ramsay is the more sadistic one.

I must say, I'm rather looking forward to watching a desperate Cersei.

This was definitely point of relief in the books. FINALLY something that the readers/viewers have to hold on to for a bit of vengeance.

Cersi really messed up putting the Sparrows in charge as they only answer to God. She should have seen that coming. Especially with the cousin incest being one of them.

What does this mean for Tommen? And where Jamie is in Dorne most want him dead there too. Tyrion the last to carry on the Lannister name? After all... He is "Still Going Strong"

I've been loving this season so far, but there has been a lack of the trademark blood and sex that TV viewers have come to expect from GoT.

I have a terrible secret to admit: I love Petyr Baelish. I do. He's my favorite character in the books, narrowly edging out Varys, and I love when either of them are on the show. I like how he started out as a low-born with no sigil and has slowly but surely climbed up the ladder ('Cuz remember: "Chaos is a ladder") to be within an arm's reach of true power, all by outsmarting and outwitting those who were born into power without learning the ropes.

An absolute brilliant part of the story line. He is outsmarting them all at the moment. I was guessing that Sansa was his weakness but that theory of mine seems to have gone out the window when he married her off the Ramsay. Petyr really does play the game hard core.

gypsybird87 posted 5/26/2015 15:13 PM

Well, this weeks ep was the best this season, though that's not really saying a whole lot...

So glad to see Cersei get some payback for all her evil deeds. She thought she could manipulate the Sparrows to her own purposes, and stay immune. So glad she was wrong!!

I'm confused about what's happening in Dorne. Last we saw, Bron, Jamie, Elaria(?) and the Sand Snakes were all getting arrested. Now Bron and the girls are imprisoned, there is no sign of Elaria, and Jamie is walking about free and they are trying to "set his mind at ease" about the safety of his 'neice'. Why? What? I feel like I missed something with that storyline....

I was very worried about Sam, who's one of my favorites. Thank goodness for Ghost. I was surprised to see him; I assumed he'd left Castle Black with Jon.

I liked Dany better when she was stronger. I feel like she's compromising herself too much to accommodate "tradition", and I really hope she doesn't marry that weasly guy, who's name I can't think of. Ugh. And Jorah's face when she said "Get him out of my sight"... My heart just broke for him. He's always been a favorite of mine too. I really want her to give him another chance.

Good episode overall...much better than they have been.

That episode ate my lunch. Oh, man. "Oh, hey, 'member all those people I just killed? Yeah, they're mine now."

honesttoafault posted 6/1/2015 12:00 PM

I was excited with this episode. I read all the books and am waiting for the next installment. I read that George Martin works with the script of this show, so it is he who is steering the plot line. The books had left us hanging with Tyrion travelling to see Daenerys and now they have met!!

I loved this!! What a formidable force the two of them are going to make! These are my two favorite characters.

I love that Cersei's Karma bus has arrived. She felt she was immune to all of this and she got caught in her own web.

Love this show!!

Can't believe I never found this thread before!!!!

Huge, huge fan of the books and show. I could nerd out on the Song of Ice and Fire universe lore for days. I had to but the encylopedia of the universe back in October when it came out...

Hardhome....that episode has to be one of the best episodes in the series! Or maybe I am just biased because it is hands down my favorite episode. Very nice to see some more exposure of the Others...White Walkers...because that was certainly the most in the books or show that we have seen of them. For the most part. If you dig deeeeep into the lore and clues in the show....

Will we eventually see Bran and Danaeryes storylines intersect at some point. I would bet 100 gold dragons that I am right. Think about it...what did the thousand eyed crow (aka Bloodraven Targarean) tell Bran when Bran asked him if he would ever walk again.....

I guess I still have a child's imagination, I fancy myself playing Sheria Seastar in my daydreams that HBO makes a spin off of Game of Thrones. I blame that Targarean bastard's eye color for that silly little fantasy. But I do hope they try to milk this popular cash cow for all its worth. All I can hope for is spin offs and depth like with the current Marvel Comic universe.
