I just found out through the grapevine that my PhD thesis chair died today. He was a rock for me not just with getting that stupid thesis done, but personally too. Held my hand a lot through my first run in with learning I was married to a dirtbag. Really, my whole grad school experience was characterized by my relationship with him.

I feel awful too because I hadn''t responded to his last email and ... damn.

Think of the haters in your life as sandpaper; they’ll scratch you up time and time again but in the end you’re polished, smooth, and spotless..while they end up useless

I'm sorry to hear that. The connections we make in our schooling can be intense and they are kind of like a second family.

I trust you is a better compliment than I love you, because you may not trust the person you love, but you can always love the person you trust. - Unknown

He left a legacy in people like you. Not many of us can say we've done that.
