Over 880,000 ceramic poppies are being "planted" at the Tower of London, one for each of the fallen soldiers (from the British Empire) in WW1.
I wish I could be there to see it instead of just photos.
My Grandad was one of the very few from his regiment that survived.
The 100th anniversary of the beginning of WW1 was August 4th.

The life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story, and writes another; and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it.

That is a very beautiful tribute

I did see it, and thought it was very moving as well.
The one thing I didn't see is if it was going to be permanent. I certainly hope so.

I read about this. It will not be permanent. They will continue to add those ceramic poppies up until Armistice Day which I think is November 11th. There will be one for every British citizen and citizens of they dominions who died in World War I. that is over 880,000 poppies. Then each one will be mailed to the people who paid 25 pounds to have one planted in the display. It's absolutely beautiful.

Here's another one, using ice sculptures, that I thought was incredibly haunting.
Here's the website for more pictures:
