Music has always been the solution for my boys. When it would get especially bad, I would shout, "Headphones! On! Now!"
Then they'd sit there and listen happily to their iPods for a while. Of course, The Princess could never handle the quiet ("Shouldn't someone be paying attention to me?" ), so she would end up talking to them, and the headphones would come off again. Argh!
Now the boys and I ride Greyhounds when we're on trips. I take Gravol to stave off the motion sickness, so I'm asleep most of the time. They live in fear of us missing our stop, so they pay close attention, and wake me up when it's time. No more fighting - and if there is any, I'm sleeping through it!
