So... last night I was making my daughter a quick "Kid Cuisine" heat-up meal for dinner and the maker of these meals had the "bright idea" to include a section with pudding in it that cannot be removed from the container...

I heated it up....pulled it out of the microwave....the pudding was bubbling at this point..and went to cut the chicken nuggets in half for my daughter and apparently a corner of the container was off of the counter and it flipped over like catapult of hot pudding lava right onto my arm and hand....

I screamed like I had been stabbed....ran to the sink and immediately washed it off.... too late.

Then I submersed it in cool water for about 15 minutes... put aloe vera lotion and anesthetic ointment and wrapped my arm...

This is what it looks like today.... needless to say...even drugged up...I didn't fall asleep until about 2:30am....maybe more passed out.

You need to go see someone and do NOT put anything else on it or in it. Let them give you instructions. OUCH!

Yes....I called my doctors office and faxed them a picture of it to see if they want me to come in or not. I'm feeling a bit dizzy at work and can't be sure if its because of the burn or the Lexapro I'm on.

I just feel kinda funny. Hard to explain. I've eaten so it can't be that.... IDK.

That is a bad burn! Yes, it is definitely 2nd degree and may be 3rd degree in spots. About 20 years ago I got 2nd and 3rd degree burns in a cooking fire and your pic reminded me of that exactly!

You NEED to go to a Dr immediately. Do not attempt to treat the blister by yourself. And you are dizzy because of this burn -- your body is diverting a lot of energy to the burn and to mentally blocking the pain.

This will take several weeks to heal and you will probably need to clean it 2x a day. And when I say "clean", I mean scrub away the dead skin. This is what I had to do and it was the most intense pain I have ever experienced. BUT, follow the Dr's order exactly, not what I am telling you I had to do.

PLEASE PLEASE, leave work NOW and go to your Dr, urgent care, or even the emergency room.

Can you get someone to drive you? I don't think you should drive yourself if you are feeling strange.

I agree with PPGA. If someone else can drive you, I think that might be a wise choice.

Keep us posted on how things go. That looks so painful... hang in there.

I'd drain that blister and slather you in neosporin or aquafor. The top part is first degree the lower part is second degree. Those hurt like hell. Probably why you feel bad. There's no third degree there.

That needs some attention, and protection.
I'm sure you feel icky, those hurt like hell.
The good news is a 1st and second degree burn, tend to stop hurting in 48 hours as the nerve endings of the burned tissue die off.
That blister is very superficial, and they may not want to drain it ( new thinking on wound care that I don't necessarily agree with) Draining it in an area that you tend to use/bump will alleviate the pain and pressure, and then keeping it clean will be essential to it healing.

In any case you will need to be putting some cream or ointment on it, most likely something with a zinc base.

Feel better.

I went to the doctor and didn't get my regular doctor because he was booked up but at least I got in to see A doctor... and she put antibiotic ointment on the red part around the large blister and told me not to pop the blister and not to put anything on it...and just let it heal on its own. She said it will rupture on its own, but the fluid inside of it is actually protecting the regenerating skin cells that are underneath and building my skin layer back up....which makes sense.

She said to keep it covered and basically just wait it out. I took the rest of the day off from work...which was only about 2 and a half hours....but I was tired and light-headed. She said it was probably a combination of the pain and the fact that I started the Lexapro a few days ago....she said that the dizziness should pass.

I'm okay to go to work tomorrow and have a note. Hoping my boss won't be too upset about me not coming back. I called and left her and another coworker a message. The doctor gave me some sort of shot for the pain and it literally conked me out for about 6 hours when I got home. I slept from 3 to 9....and am going to bed again soon. I guess I needed the sleep but I'm not sure what was in that shot that did that!

Good knews is its not infected YET and she said that when it ruptures is usually when infection would occur. So, to keep my eye open for redness around the blister and any puss that may come out if it becomes infected. Other than that.... once it ruptures, I will put antibiotic ointment on top of it after it ruptures...just now now.

(((hugs)))

I am so glad you saw a Dr and have a treatment plan. Surely if your boss saw that nasty blister she will have no problem with the fact that you did not cam back after the appt.

Tuck this away for future reference -- the area where the burn is will be super super sensitive to the sun. Even more so because you are a ginger with light skin. So keep it covered with clothes when possible and with 50+ sunscreen too. At least thru the fall and probably thru next summer too. And keep that blister area really clean. Once the blister burst it will hurt and sting like the dickens, but you need to wash it and rinse it well several times a day. And if you see any sign of infection, go see the Dr immediately.

Sleep well tonight and take good care of yourself for the next several days.

Yah what dreamboat said.
I would caution you to allow that blister stay intact for more than 3-4 days. If it does, then you can (and in my opinion should) drain it. As far as it hurting it will be fresh raw skin under there, so more like a burning sensation you get when you scrape your knee or have road rash. Unpleasant, but not debilitating.

Make sure you are drinking lots of water, and eating good proteins. This will also facilitate you healing quickly.
