I moved a few weeks ago and decided to go with broadcast TV for a while. I get about 30 channels and have a very good picture---but that's not the issue here.
Half of the channels are either QVC or HSN types of things or TV preachers. I'm not going to buy anything and I won't be sending any money soon to be saved from damnation.
On the other hand I do get all the local channels and a few movie channels. Mostly OLD movies--but movies just the same. There is also a station that has old shows from the 50's and 60' that's kind of cool. And I get 2 PBS stations that I tend to watch a lot.

I wish more stations would get on board and open up some more options to watch--but I guess they are more interested in making money by selling rights to the cable companies.

All in all--broadcast TV is pretty lame. But the best thing about it is that it's----FREE!!!

I love free stuff!

That's all. Carry on.

I don't have it but apparently Netflix is the new craze. DD pays $8 month for it (technically $4 because she splits it with her boyfriend) because she didn't want to pay for cable at school. She's addicted, and I've heard others say the same about Netflix.

We haven't had broadcast TV since 2007. We moved and got cable for less than a year. Prior to that, we had never had cable.

Shortly after we dropped cable we signed up with Netflix streaming for about $8 a month. It's great! No commercials!

We do miss the PBS shows, but a lot of those end up on Netflix too. And, if we want to see a game, we head to the local coffee shop and/or bar.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to look into Netflix.

And don't forget HULU as well (same idea as Netflix). I would drop cable in a heartbeat if we A) had the content you guys get. But we don't because of licensing laws. One can only watch Anne of Green Gables so many times folks.

and B) had unlimited internet packages. Unfortunately we have caps on our internet and the constant streaming would send my internet bill through the roof.

So, go live my dropping cable dream and sign up for both.
