So the funeral for my friend was Friday. It was awful. I have seriously never experienced anything like it. Her father WAILED through the entire service. To the point of overpowering the pastor at some points. Wailing, screaming, crying. JM remarked that he thought he understood where she may have inherited some of her histrionic/over the top behaviors. (No judgment. I have no idea how I would behave if something happened to one of my kids.)

It was just so horribly sad to witness his grief. Her daughter was also very upset, although it was hard to tell if she was responding to her grandfather's distress. When the service was over, and they were leaving the chapel, he leaned over, grasped the casket and would not let go. It took all 6 pallbearers to physically remove him so they could get the casket into the hearse. I did not go to the burial. I just couldn't handle anymore that day.

In church yesterday, all of the music was special. We did several songs that she had previously sung solos or done movement for. And we did a powerpoint with pictures that played during the last song, Orphans of God. The words to that song are just incredibly powerful. They have brought me so much comfort, and maybe will do the same for someone here.

ORPHANS OF GOD
Who here among us has not been broken?
Who here among us is without guilt or shame?
So oft abandoned by our transgressions
If such a thing as grace exists, then grace was meant for lives like this.

There are no strangers, there are no outcasts.
There are no orphans of God
So many fallen, but hallelujah!
There are no orphans of God.

Come ye unwanted, and find affection
Come all ye weary, come and lay down your heads
Come ye unworthy, you are my brother
If such a thing as grace exists, then grace was meant for lives like this.

There are no strangers, there are no outcasts.
There are no orphans of God.
So many fallen, but hallelujah!
There are no orphans of God.

O holy Father, look down upon us.
We are Your children, we need Your love.
We run before Your throne of mercy
And seek Your face to rise above

There are no strangers, there are no outcasts
There are no orphans of God
So many fallen, but hallelujah
There are no orphans of God.

Thank you all again for your kindness and your prayers. Today is the first day in a week that I haven't cried.

HF....

First, my condolences on the loss of your friend. I've followed the story and it is indeed so sad.

I want to thank you for reaching out in your grief and sharing this song. It's beautiful.

You could not know that I lost someone as well....I held my very best friend's hand as she died at dawn on February 3rd. Just her and I...her own kids were "too stressed" by it all, and had left. The previous six months had been hell, and I'm glad she's no longer suffering, but heartbroken because I miss her so much.

I tend to not reach out much. Don't know why. But again, I thank you for doing so. Sharing that beautiful song has helped me today.

I'm Happy, not Sad!

HFSSC ~ Again, my sincere condolences and thinking of you during this sad time.

What a beautiful song.
The lyrics really resonate with me.

Take care,
lf
