Anyone have any experience of this? Good or bad? My sister in law is at the hospital right now. No sings of labour but been told it's very likely in the next 24 hours. She's in bits, poor girl, her mum just died in December.
Thanks for any replies.

I went into labor at 23 weeks. I was 18 years old and not at all prepared for parenthood, but it broke my heart. By far the worst week of my life. My thoughts are with your SIL.

No worries. I don't trigger about it anymore. It sucked, yes, but its been years and, not to make it sound like I don't care about the son I lost, my life is better now than it would have been if I became a mom at 18. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, even the heartbreaking things. I get to be an amazing mom to my little girl now.

I am so sorry to hear this.

I miscarried at 20 weeks with an IUD.
Obviously it was an unplanned pregnancy, but we had just got over the shock and begun to look forward to a new baby.
He was born alive, but died shortly after birth. This was when IUDs were new and they had not much experience with them.
I think with the prenatal care they have now, there is a possibility of a better outcome.
I will say a prayer for her and the baby.

Thank you nowiknow23.
I am sorry for your loss cissie and thank you for replying.

It is the middle of the night here now and we have not heard from them in hours. Hopefully that means the baby is still with her. I know if baby is born now he or she has next to no hope. We are all just hoping she doesn't go into labour yet. It's possible but not likely.

We're both in our 30s. One awesome 4-year-old daughter.

10 years ago my SIL had an amniocentesis at 14 weeks.

48 hours later her waters broke.
The sac had sprung a leak where the amino had been done.

That night in the hospital the Dr told them to terminate the pregnancy as there was no hope.

SIL wanted to miscarry naturally and so the wait began.

24 hours passed... The heartbeat was still strong.

Once more the doctors urged a termination. Explaining that the baby could not develop normally with no amniotic fluid.

Still SIL decided to await nature to take its course.

Eventually my niece was born...... After a 55 minute labor.

She was 2 weeks late and weighed 8lbs.

Today she is 10. A tall, beautiful, sweet, loving and 100%
Healthy girl.

Yes the odds are high that she should not have survived.

I pray that your family will also receive their miracle.

Thanks Moo.
She still isn't having any pains, so that's good for now.
They have heard the babies heartbeat but are still waiting on a scan, the NHS is great but slow.

I missed that you are in the UK.

I am British living abroad but miracle niece was born in a NHS UK hospital.

Praying your British niece/nephew is as feisty and attitudey as mine.

We often joke she plugged the hole with her middle finger gesturing at the doctors who thought she would not make it!!!

Haha timeforchange. She sounds like she's a fistey wee thing.
Good to know it was on the NHS.
She has still not gone into labour but the scan showed no fluid around the baby. She gets another scan in the morning and if there is still no fluid there is talk of inducing labour. If that happens the baby will die.
It's all so sad.
