I'm getting married in July. SO and I want to go on a honeymoon, but we don't know where to go. We first looked at cruises in the Caribbean because it's all inclusive and we've never been on one. Then, SO mentioned that he'd rather cruise to nowhere. So I started looking at all-inclusive resorts. However, I have no idea where to go and which resorts are good. I looked at Sandals and Secrets, but they seem quite expensive.

What I know so far:
-I want to use my passport since I got it a couple of years ago and I only used it once. It's likely that we won't get the chance to travel again for awhile.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!!

Jamaica has great prices on all-inclusives. H and I LOVE the Couples resorts. We love Negril. The beach is gorgeous. Check out couples.com

Mexico, Cancun or Playa del Carmen.

Both have all-inclusive resorts.

I'm biased, my Mom lives right in between

Antigua is beautiful! But it is one of the more expensive islands - and going off resort is not recommended. We stayed at Galley Bay - walked out of our room right onto the beach. Ahhhhhhhhh.

We also went to Aruba and really enjoyed it. It's more *Americanized* (i.e. there is TGIF, McD's, etc) but thankfully we knew someone with a timeshare and he shared a lot of off the beaten path restaurants (we did not stay all inclusive) so we rented a car and enjoyed the island. It is considered fairly safe and we never felt in danger.

I wouldn't do a cruise nowadays - I know it's probably a small percentage, but between the stranded ones, the viruses, etc I would prefer to stay away.

Have fun planning. CheapCaribbean.com is a great site to get some ideas and great deals!

Congrats Little Turtle.
I would definitely recommend an all-inclusive it is nice to just not worry about cost. In July a lot of the places will be really hot and over run with kids so I would definitely recommend an adults only resort. Go on trip advisor and read up on the resorts there are some reviews and you can decide what you would like. Have fun planning vacations is my favorite thing to do.

Forget to tell us something?

I'm pretty sure I announced my engagement in NB last summer, but I guess I never updated anyone since then!! Sorry! I suppose I should have said something at the MI g2g.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll be checking out all of the sites tomorrow. The kids have another snow/cold day.

AN, Jamaica is one of the places I've been eyeing.

Iama, there are MANY resorts there. How do you decide?? You can't drink the water in Mexico, right?

Lucky, good to know about Aruba. Will check out the site.

NG, where in Canada?

Ruby, thanks for the tip of adults only. I was worried about that factor on a cruise since I didn't see any adults only cruises. Will check out that review site!

It would depend on what kind of adventure you're looking for. There's beautiful old world Quebec. There's the Calgary Stampede. Banff & the amazing hotel. Vancouver with the islands & orcas nearby. Northern Lights & unspoiled mountains & 5-star accommodations.

I love Canada.

The couples resorts are beautiful! Thanks, AN!

I've been browsing around on the cheapcaribbean website. When I get more time, I plan to read reviews and compare places to see which resort would be the best fit.

NG, I mentioned Canada to SO, and he told me he'd rather go to the beach. I did look up some resorts though, and they have beautiful views! Thanks for the suggestion.

This is my first time planning a trip like this, so I appreciate the input that you guys have. I especially like hearing where others have stayed and their experience there.

If anyone else wants to add more, I'll be checking the thread!
Thanks

I am from the east coast of Canada and we have some fantastic beaches...just saying. I know they do in BC as well because surfing is popular there. I know a lot of people though who travel to Costa Rica, supposed to be gorgeous.

Remember it will be very hot and humid with a small chance of tropical storms.

I loved the US Virgin Islands.

I would also recommend Canada (either coast or Banff) or Lake Tahoe.

If you don't mind baking in the sun, Paradise Island in the Bahamas is great. That is where the Atlantis is but instead of staying there (as there are always TONS of kids running around), I stayed next door at an all inclusive (including alcohol) called The RIU. Very reasonable rates and all rooms have ocean views. I loved the alcohol dispensers in the rooms, too!

Although it doesn't have all the ameneties of the Atlantis, all we had to do was walk next door to hang out in their casino, water park, aquarium, resturants, etc.

And the Bahamas offers a lot of different excursions too is you get tired of laying on the white, soft sand all day.
