I don't know if I have been blind prior to today, or just not on the site as much lately, but I just noticed the "Find a Local Counselor" thingy on the side with the forum, healing library, etc.

Of course, my state isn't included - Murphy's Law for me! - but what a fabulous idea.

Recently I contacted a counselor who called me ack a couple of weeks later and said that he wouldn't see me/us - I think his words were "I don't think I can help you". Thanks, big guy!

Anyway, this is a great idea, and I hope it provides lots of people with an additional resourse.

WR, Be thankful the guy told you he didn't think he could help. It would be much worse for him to take you on.

I guess I overlooked that in the healing library. I'll have to take a look at it.

What a great thing to offer. So many times the Counselor's say they do "marriage counseling" only to find out they are not so helpful in this field.

I just noticed this new feature too!

I agree it's a great idea. Thanks MH!

I am curious though how you determine the counselors that are on the list. Just call me "nosy Nelly".

What if we know of an IC/MC that should be avoided?

I am curious though how you determine the counselors that are on the list. Just call me "nosy Nelly".

We've been going through several databases that have licensed marriage counselors listed and mailing directly to them with an invitation to be listed.

SI is not endorsing any of them, just merely giving members and lurkers the means to find one (hopefully) in their area.

What if we know of an IC/MC that should be avoided?

If they were listed then I suppose we would need a little back ground history(privately) on why you (general term) feels that way.
