I am visiting my friend for the Holidays...it will be my first time visiting Dallas.

Any restaurant recommendations? Museums? Shows? Where to shop?

And what are the people like in Dallas? Just curious...

Shopping: Galleria, Northpark mall, Stonebriar mall, Grapevine mall. Shops in Highland Park village

Restaurants: I just eat where I shop!

Stuff to do: hmm, I'm from there so I have of course never done tourist things. I am a sports fan so there is always the Mavs and Stars. There are constant concerts and shows. Check out stub hub for Dallas when you are supposed to be there.

There's always Dealy Plaza and the Book Depository. And the Arboretum is great. There's the Dallas and Ft. worth zoos.

Of I think of something else I'll post.

Oh yeah the Ice show at the Gaylord Hotel is awesome.

You could go to reunion tower. They have an observation deck at the top, but you can also eat there. It's really cool at night. It spins once every hour. It's kind of the iconic thing in the Dallas skyline, so at least you could say you've been there.

Lots of things to do, and the people are super nice.

Another thing that's fun is to go to Fort Worth, and shop the streets there, fun little quaint shops, and they drive the cattle down the street daily. You can pet a real honest to goodness Long Horn.

There are several really neat statues that are large throughtout Dallas, one downtown, another in Las Colinas, check them out they are really quite impressive.

Deep Ellum is the counterculture area, and it's been some time since I have been down there, but can be a lot of fun.

Restraunts - Any small family owned Mexican place will do. If you are leary of that Don Pablos is a chain that has excellent Fajitas and Margaritas. Bar B Que is the other thing they do well in Dallas, ask around where the place to get the best is when you get there.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science, although it will be crowded! I'd say people are probably the same as anywhere. You'll find some really nice and some really jerks, just be prepared for our accent!

Jumping on this thread...I have only been there once, LONG ago. Is there a body of water nearby big enough for sailing larger boats?
