We just had ours last month, got a 96- but I still want to punch the JCAHO nazi that runs our program in the throat. What stupid shit this all is. Tracers? I work in a section that never refers anyone, or gets referrals due to the nature of the section. We do school physicals for military- Special Forces, Ranger, Halo, etc. If they aren't healthy they can't apply. So we have to make some stupid scenarios up. Just in case. So why do we have to work out all these fing tracer scenarios? And be prepared for the examiners? Stupid JCAHO Nazis. I feel ur pain. Sorry you're oncall.

I love hearing people in JCAHO misery because it reminds me of the aggravation and headache and helps keep me from going back prn...

I hated JCAHO - I was a BMET (repaired/maintained patient care equipment) in my old life- and it wasn't so much the inspection of my records, it was those pieces of equipment that inevitably showed up the week before inspection (IV pumps, in particular) that had not been anywhere to be found in a year, that someone had hidden so they would never be out of an IV pump. ugh. and NOW they had to be tested/inspected. I suspect if they were hidden so well that I could not routinely find them, that an inspector would not find them either!! :)
or, the inspector that looked behind the employee fridge in the maintenance department wth does that have to do with anything?
the hospital I worked at usually did well, but that week leading up to the inspection was a pain in the behind.
I hate that you could not have a drink last evening PJ!

knightsbff- we do have a flight surgeon, but the majority of our physicals are predominantly non flight- airborne/ranger most prevalent. :)

(((PJ))))

I was always "randomly selected" to speak with those ivory tower idiots when they would come through. It didn't matter if I was in ICU, Endoscopy, or even Care Management. They always picked me. My bosses loved it because I have a friendly face, and don't get nervous, but I hated talking with them. The last time I was a CM for a 35 patient unit, that had a 90% daily turnover, and I got pulled to "spend the day" with them. Of course my kind boss (fat lazy pig) didn't have anyone cover for me, so I then had to go back and do my regular job after. GRRRRR. Yes I did have a drink, actually many drinks after that day.
